ok then maybe you could suggest something then what i want to able to do is browse the web and use a messenger program like yahoo msn or aim i have xdsl but cant really read anything cause the xbox is hooked up to a tv and its all to small and i tried downloading yahoo for it but it would not open the installer after downloading and the webmessenger for yahoo would not run cause mozilla would not install the java plug in im gonna get gentoox and see what it does but i would like a windows based operating system cause i know how to use windows and have no clue with linux....... any suggestion on how to accomplish this in any way would be great

Have you looked into running XBMC as a dashboard??
It has many customized scripts which allows your xbox to stream information, news, videos, audio directly from the internet...??
XBMC allows you to run python scripts..
They are cool and i have written and customized a few myself.
Im sure you would find a email script or maybe even some sort of messenger script even. Guys are working on so much stuff with XBMC and its the most active project apart from LINUX of course..
I have setup linux ages ago but never bothered with it..

i have xbmc already but not as a dash and use many of its scripts i really dont care that much about email and as i have seen there is not messenger script so far unless recently updated. i have linksbox and the usb mouse works with it but not the key board. i came across this http://pspold.qj.net/windows-98-on-xbox.html earlier today and may install 98 tomarow and then i can do what ever i want with the xbox

word lol on the reals i got a question i tryed to use windows ce but the xbox just reboots and do i have to have a keyboard for it to word ? and can i usse the wine emulator to run counter strike on X-DSL linux
