It probably comes with static settings. Try FTPing into the xbox and manually configuring the mimesis config file _________________

this is what the config file should have
Code:
<IPSettings>
<!-- Network Type --->
<!-- Here is where you specify how Mimesis will --->
<!-- connect to your network and hopefully be --->
<!-- able to see the internet. You have three --->
<!-- choices when specifying the type: --->
<!-- dhcp --->
<!-- static --->
<!-- dashboard --->
<!-- DHCP and Dashboard both will ignore the static --->
<!-- settings below, such as IPAddress, Subnet, etc. --->
<!-- However do not leave them blank. If you want to --->
<!-- blank those out, simply put a - there instead. --->
<Type>dashboard</Type>
okay well i upgraded to mimesis 3. now i get the message FATAL ERROR: GameList.xml not found. Mimesis must exit.. i tried changing the config file to the dhcp anc static and it still doesnt work. plz help
also.. im starting to think its because the xbox cant access the internet from my computer, how can i make sure it has the ability to access the internet?

If you boot up XBMC with DHCP network settings, rss newsfeeds will be displayed in the home screen, therefore confirming your xboxes connection to the internet.
So you have your xbox plugged into your pc, and your pc connected to the 'net, right? Now I'm no whizz with networking, but i think if you enable Internet Connection Sharing on your network device, your xbox should be able to connect to the internet. _________________

Can you FTP into the xbox? If you can then you have to do what roo said, and enable internet connection sharing on your NIC _________________
yeah i can ftp into it. i tried going into the local area connection properties, then advanced then checked the box which sed "allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection" however when i clicked apply it came up with an error message saying something about the ip??

What was the exact error? Something about the IP isn't very descriptive _________________

ICS uses a default IP of 192.168.1.1 this could be part of the problem.
post back the exact error you were getting

okay it says "an error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled..Internet connection sharing cannot be enabled. A Lan connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP adressing"
