First off, thank you to everyone who helped me get my xbox softmodded and ready to go. Now I just have a question about the video. I have a Hi Def TV and the Hi Def AV cables. I have everything set to on (480p,etc). I tried NCAA07 and the video wasn't very good. Then I tried my originals of NHL05 and FIFA05 (which previously looked amazing-not compared to xbox360 ofcourse, but still great to me), and they didn't look as good in what's supposed to be hi def. I searched and one person had suggested to someone else to check the display setting on the TV itself to see if the it displays "480p" or not (thinking being ofcourse the non-480p games will not show "480p"). Well I popped in the Splinter Cell which is not supported with 480p, and my display still shows 480p. I checked both MS Dash and Unleash and they both show all Hi Defs (480p, etc) as on. So am I missing something? Am I suppose to use a patch? I saw the 4.5 needed a patch, but does SID 3.1 as well? Is the video suppose to suffer using softmods by chance, or has anyone experienced that? I have a Pioneer TV, have they been known not to be compatible with Unleash or softmods in general? Again, thank you in advance for any help or advice. Not to sound wussy or anything, but this is probably the nicest and most helpful forum I've been on. I haven't seen anyone be mad or annoyed with any question, no matter how trivial it may seem (knock on wood).

No, 3.1 does not need to be patched to run on Hi-Def TV's. Unfortunately, you're not going to see much of an increase in quality between 480I and 480p. It's just really not a huge increase (640x480 going up to 720x600 or something along those lines). The resolution is there, it's just not a huge difference to the naked eye. Now, if your TV supports 720i or a higher rez, I'd go with those, then you'll really start to see the clarity in lines and shadows. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Thanks Angelos. I was afraid that maybe the softmod affected the high def negatively. My TV supports up 1080i, nd have those on in the settings section, but do any games support that? I haven't seen any with that on the back yet. I usually play sports games, and played the occasional splinter cell and ghost recon (i sucked at those type of games).

Try checking
here. They have a list of what games support HD as well as what video outputs then will produce. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

Thanks Greven, great list. Hopefully just one other question and I'll stop bugging everyone (hopefully).....what is soften and filter in the video options? Soften is set to "yes", and filter=2. does that mean soften the edges? color? and am totally clueless on filter.

The soften option reduces sharpness and consequently reduces artifacts.
As for "filter", there are several filters, which one(or which menu) are you refering to? _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

Thanks about the soften. The filter I was speaking of was the option that's in the video section under soften. Don't have it in front of me now, but if I remember correctly, it was in the "Video Display" of Unleash, and then it was listed after all the options to turn on Hi Def, and right under "Soften"

The filter reduces the amount of flicker produced by the TV. If you set it to Zero, you'll see the whole screen sorta resonate like it's humming and such. Change it to about 3, and you won't notice any difference after that. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
