Ave,

I haven't had this problem yet with any other game. I have some original games as well as backup games and none of them have given me an error. All of them play without a problem from the DVD drive with the Disc. This is the first time i've recieved this error.

It's Halo and it's a backup. I gets me through settings and intros etcetera... but when you launch a campaign, it goes to "Loading" and then gives a "Disc Error. Disc is Dirty or Damaged".

I don't have a Thomson drive, which most people have blamed it upon. I saw somewhere something about cleaning out your Fan at the back of the XBOX... but anyone else know anything about this?

I got the px-halo and burnt it on DVD using DVD Decrypter at 1x, the usual. I don't think it's the game or the disc because i'm using the same Disc pack for all my other games and i think px-halo is the most preferred XISO of Halo available. The fact that i've not had this error with any other game leads me to feel the Fan may not be the issue, but then i don't know.

Looking for suggestions.

Thanks.

you have a soft mod right? you'll need patches to run back ups of some games. this may be the case with the newer halo disks, such as the ones with the halo2 previews on them....i'll look around to see if i can find one.....

hey mickey797,

can you update your profile for us:
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/forums-profile-editprofile.html

Just copy and paste one of our signatures into your own signature section in your profile.. Then change the details to reflect your XBOX SETUP.. If you have a SOFTMOD instead of a MODCHIP please specify this..

Make sure that 'ALWAYS SHOW YOR SIGNATURE' is on 'YES'.

this will help us reply as we know your setup..

If you are using a modchip and getting this error burn it again to another brand of dvd-r and give it a go.. I am just about to test px-halo myself so i will let you know if i get any probs.. I doubt very much its a bad release because Project X (PX) release only full games.

hang in there mate.

cheers,

forahobby

When I am playing on XBC, I get the "Dirty disc" error all the time. ONly on Halo though. Its the original disk, and its in mint condition. I don't get it.

Hey,

Yes i do have a SoftMod.
That's interesting... i thought the PX-Halo release didn't need a Patch. But you know what, i'm all for it. Because no other game whatsoever has given me this problem except Halo. Its' a backup but still, i thought it would run. Every other backup or original game has run on my XBOX. And i really wanna play the famous HALO.

I'll really appreciate if you can find a patch for HALO. I'll also look around to see what i find.

Thanks a ton,
Mickey

Can PAL Halo be system linked to NTSC Halo? I thought I'd read on Bungie's site that the two would not sync.

Good thinking! What do you need to do to play NTSC in Australia? Will your monitors work with NTSC? I suppose I need some sort of multi-sync monitor, but I'm not sure.

Most of our new stuff in Australia is MULTI anyway..
This means we can play anything.. Smile

Alot of our older televisions etc DID NOT support NTSC and would roll or just go black and white.

Solved it!
I don't know why i didn't even try it before posting it here.

I extracted the ISO using QWIX and used the "Load Patch" available in QWIX to patch the default.xbe ... then rebuild XISO using QWIX and now HALO works like a charm in my XBOX!!
And DAMN! What a game! I love it.

Thanks.

Mickey
