is it posible to play games without a modchip ?

Yea you can play official Xbox games without a mod chip.....but in order to play back ups or to play them off of your HDD you need a mod chip. ttyl _________________ SE Halo Xbox v1.4 :

Correction. You don't "need" a Mod Chip.
Soft-Modding is a better option... no soldering, no purchasing and 7 minutes of your time. You can play backups, imports, any region DVDs, anything at all.

i wouldnt say softmodding is better, no at all. you cant go onto xbox live, sure...XBC....i know, but when Halo 2 comes out, i know those of you with soft mods are gonna wish you could log onto live. i dont care if you're in denial.
also, with soft modding theres always a fall back, the audio hack screws with your ability to play music cd's, the front hack has the clock loop error... im sure there may be ways to correct this, but if you get the right chip, you can run the original bios or the modchips bios. now you cant do that with a soft mod, and i personaly can install an applex v in 8min now.
the longest thing is if you're installing a new hdd, then you have to wait for the C: and E: drives to back up.
so with this in mind, iwould say if you plan on running back up's..... get a mod chip.
P.S. Mickey797, the biggest problem with softmodding is that you have to get patches to run individual games.... otherwise you get an error screen...diskread failure.
you can buy modchips with no patch hack1 and no patch hack2, that eliminates this problem, and answers your other post about the halo disk you were having problems with. _________________ XBOX360
