Hi yall!

I'm very familiar to softmodding, but as some might know, I unlocked my HD, and I fataly screwed the Xbox. Now, the only way I can get it back is by installing a modchip. I already did the hotswap, but none hotswap works unless you have your eeprom backed up on the PC. It is a long story, we worked on the problem with Gustavo, but we did not accomplish anything. Anyway, so now, which one should I buy, and from which website. Also, please make sure you are giving me a cheaper one, i have about 30 to maximum of maybe 40 dollars to spend [it shouldnt be more that $43, because it will look like a big number to my dad, and he will not buy the chip to me, lol].

So, give me some ideas, please include the link to the safe website to buy it from, and maybe list some advantages of it, I need the chip to be able to run my Xbox and recover the eeprom to the drive. Also, did I mention that my Xbox boots to error 5? Well it does, I formated the HD and reinstaled MS dash back on it, but the eeprom is not on the HD, so it cannot be recognized by the motherboard. That's why i need a modchip, and please make sure there is no wire welding and melting and stuff, I just want a soilderless one, just to plug it in, and turn it on.

Thank you guys in advance,

exyBoxy

Oh btw, the solderless adaptor is like $20 alone. I am willing to do the soldering for you for $5, sent back the same day. you could even go with a xecuter 2.6 or duox 2. Alot cheaper, and will still recover your xbox.

I'm sory Impwis, but I'm really new to modchips. So, I need a solderless adapter for the modchip? Because id rather do some welding, melting and wiring rather than pay 20 dollars, and btw, where do you live?

So, now tell me, I need a 30 dollar modchip + a solderless adapter?

My dad wouldn't be happy about pawying that much, I guess I'll do the soldering myself, It shouldnt be hard right? Now, can you give me a link to those last two modchips you mentioned which are cheaper and will recover as well as the Xodium Ice or watev? I really can't wait to get one.

Thank you in advance

If you don't know how to solder, I would leave the soldering gun alone. If you do it wrong you will screw up your mobo and ruin your xbox. Get the solderless adapter. Yeah, it cost more but it will save your xbox.

If not, send it to Impwiz, he's an admin and can be trusted so he can solder it for you. Trust me you'll be back if you solder it yourself.

I'm near detroit in michigan. I suggest you learn to solder on something easier and cheaper than a xbox motherboard. It just takes some getting used to how the solder will flow, and make sure you clean everything with rubbing alcohol. You'll get the hang of it.
A good thing about solderless, they're easy and fast install, and it's easily removable. let me know. divineo.com has alot of chips and are a great reseller. Prices are decent there, not the cheapest.

Well, I can not really afford $25 or more for the shipping and soldering fee. Isn't there a complete solderless chip that doesnot require a solderless adapter? Like the Xenium Ice, that one i sa u just screw it in, and voila on the tut video. Isn't there another cheapr option? Like, just a modchip, the cheapest solderless that does not require solderless adapter!?!

No one has pointed out that someone without soldering experience probably doesn't have soldering equipment. The solderless adapter will not only be easier, but cheaper than soldering if you don't already have the gear. If you go cheap on soldering gear, probably still cost over $50 for a very basic setup. But of course you could approach it as a different subject with your dad. The soldering gear could just be a "new hobby" you wanted to try. Oh, BTW, I need a modchip to fix my XBox....

Thats what I needed the modchip for too. Thanks for pointing that out about the solder gun and stuff. I knew that all along, so I decided I will be chipping my xbox probably next month. I just bought a new xbox from ebay, with a faulty dvd drive, and ill use the dvd drive i have to fix it. I need you guys to find me the best and cheapest match of modchip and a solderless adapter, that will recover my xbox, doesnt cost too much, and that will work with v1.1 to 1.5, my xbox is assembled in august 2004, which means its prolly 1.4.

So, lets get this clear what im looking for:

Modchip [cheapest possible] that will recover a lost eeprom and will fix an unlocked hd with no eeprom on it, with a solderless adapter [cheapest possible that would fit in versions 1.0 to 1.5.

Thank you in advance,

exyBoxy
