Post subject: Xbox Revisions Noise Level Compared
Reply with quote
I like my Xbox with XBMC installed so much, I'm thinking about getting a second one! I am wondering if there are differences in noise level between the different revisions. The one I have now is a v1.1 and the noise level is ok, though I would prefer it to be quieter. The DVD drive is particularly quite noisy (a Samsung, I paid attention to getting one with a Samsung, because they're said to be more compatible with (re)writable DVDs), and there's of course the fan ...

The v1.0 are probably more noisy because they have two fans? What about other versions? Did they change to better fans (or worse?!) fans in later versions??

And are there other reasons for preferring a particular revision of Xbox (besides DVD drive media compatibility?)? Like better hard drives or something? ...
