I'm having a ton of problems upgrading my HD!
I have a virgin 250Gb HD that I'd like to put in my xbox, which is now running Evox.
I've tried plugging it into the xbox and running a boot disc, but I get an error 13. So now I'm trying XboxHDM. It's not doing much better...
My current situation is this- I boot my comp with XboxHDM, go through the steps detailed in Xboxhdm for Dummies. Unfortunately, it seems there are some minor differences. I follow, best I can, and end up at the build HD from Scratch. This is where things crap out. It scans and formats, then it asks me if I want to build the C drive. Yes, I say, and it says "building C drive" Then everything stops.
The Hd doesn't seem to be whirring, the cd isn't running, so I can't see how it's copying the C drive to the HD. What am I doing wrong? And how can I do this correctly?
Thanks in advance, anyone who can help!

Eraserhead-
I don't know for sure what's going wrong, but I have a few suggestions.
1) Make sure that no other drives are attached to your PC at all while you do this. (If you're following that guide, then you probably already know this)
2) Using DOS, or a boot disk, or even Windows for that matter, go in and do a full format on your new HDD, using FAT32.
3) Then, instead of booting up the HDM disk you already made, go back into Windows, and make a new one. MAKE SURE that you have your backed up EEPROM copied into xboxhdm's EEPROM folder before you create the ISO. Otherwise you will have a hell of a time trying to lock the drive.
4) Also- Are you putting your backed-up C drive into xboxhdm before you create the ISO, or are you putting factory Xbox dashboard files? I recommend always putting in the factory files, and starting fresh. You will be able to soft modd the new drive in 10 seconds, and using your old drives files doesn't really save any time.
5) Go into your PC's bios, and disable all HDD's auto detect option. It isn't needed for xboxhdm, and it can even cause problems sometimes.
6) Now create and burn a new ISO and give it a try! That's all I can think of for now, but I will come back to see if you need any more help...
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the reply!
Currently, after much huffing and puffing, XboxHDM managed to build the C drive, partition F drive, etc.
But now the problem is locking! I get the frozen hard drive problem. I'm going to try and shut down any bios detection... again. If it's anything like what I've encountered in the past, I just need to keep doing it and eventually it will suddenly change and allow me. Like a girl playing hard to get.
I've got a friend with a chipped box, so I'm thinking if I can't succeed, I'll pop it in his box and load up AID.
