Well, UnleashX is a lot more up to date than Evox, and has a lot more user options.
However it is a personal choice, so if you can, get your friend to try out both of them on another xbox. If this is not possible, simply softmod using one, and install the other as an app. Then they can make a decision _________________

Well, there are many different skins for each one, and there are even programs you can use on your computer to create skins.
UnleashX probably has more detailed skins, due to more user features. _________________

Personally, I would have to agree with you. I would prefer UnleashX over Evox, simply because it is more up to date, and has more functions.
I use Avalaunch and Xbox Media Center as dashboards on my xbox, but thats just as i said, a personal thing
As for the help, no worries mate, thats what were here for
Enjoy the HQ network.
Cheers, Roo. _________________

Xbox Media Center you should look at it if posable it's the BEST there is mate....
the only thing i can see wrong with it is you cant see your Game Saves.... (unless you use the Xbox 360 Skin) _________________

This is pretty much a summary of everything said. But it's also my opinion. That's what you wanted, right?
UnleashX was my main dashboard up until 6-6-06. Then I switched to XBMC and still keep Unleash around as an app. UnleashX was my first choice just because EvoX was too.... boring. UnleashX still has two things over XBMC, though. Built in text editor, and instant music play in the background (which you CAN do with XBMC it just requires a whole nother script to edit and such).
Now, XBMC (as of 6-6-06) is just amazing now. You team up the new T3CH build (which is on AID 3.03) with the Blackbolt MC360 skin, and you have a dreambox. Networking to stream your movie, music and picture files from your network computers, python scripts (oh god, I love python), and... XLink kai integration. Which, when teamed up with a LinkSys router running the hacked scene firmware, allows you to play online with other people using the free XLink kai software, right from your couch. Once the router's flashed, you never have to worry about running to your computer to log in and such. Nope, XBMC takes care of all of that.
So, once again, it all boils down to preference. If all he's going to do is play backups, go with EvoX. It's damned near n00b proof, as long as he stays away from the "Unlock HDD" option. *shudder* But if he wants a true media center, go with XBMC, the newest T3CH build with the blackbolt MC360 skin. You really can't go wrong at all.
Oh, one last thing. XBMC as of February (I think) now has integrated Trainer support using the Xored ETM engine. Which makes launching those games you love to cheat at all the easier . _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Well, I just suggested UnleashX for now, because you can't install XBMC from the SID Installer. _________________

Avalaunch is also good too.

Hello, I was intrigued by this discussion because I recently sofmodded my Xbox, and I really want to intall XBMC as my dashboard. Can any of you point me in the right directions as to what the easiest way to do this might be? Perhaps a website with downloads, etc? Sorry to be obtuse, but this is all very new to me. Thanks!

Piece of cake.
Softmod using the SID installer of your choice (grab them from here )
Then, download AID from the same link and burn that off. Now once your box is modded, pop in AID 3.03, choose "Install Dashboard (softmod)" then choose XBMC. Good to go. All done. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
