What is the best program to burn an ISO to DVD for XBOX Games?
I had an ISO of the game "Driv3r" on my PC ... i burnt it on a blank DVD-R Disc using DVD Decrypter...
I'm using Evox M8 & PBL Metoo on my Xbox v1.6.
When i load the Disc, it's read by the xbox as it gives "Game" in the Top-Left Corner where it usually displays the Disc Status... when i go into 'ltools' it also gives "Single Game DVD" and clicking on it displays the DVD title "Driv3r"... but if i hit "Start" or anything to begin the DVD, i get a blank screen... it doesn't go anywhere, it just stays blank.
I haven't burnt an XBOX Game ISO before.. i don't know what's wrong.

anyway, on to your probs..
Ok.. Have you ever boot a BACKUP XBOX GAME before.. Maybe a friend gave your a DVD-R with a XBOX GAME ON IT..
It may be a media problem too.. Most xboxes only like to read certain types of media.. you will find what media is best for your xbox below.

Another reason is that the DRIVER Game has protection on it.. But normally when a GROUP RELEASES a ISO it has the protection removed..
all you have to do is PATCH the main 'default.xbe' file which is in the root of the ISO.. Then make a XISO again and burn to DVD-R..
The latest games have copy protection..
Last thing:
Try using DVD2XBOX which automatically patches games when copying from the XBOX DVDROM to the XBOX HDD.. You need to download the .acl files as well

I'm definately very new to the whole XBOX scene. In fact, i just purchased my very first XBOX last week... and last weekend i softmodded it using the UDE2 Package by Idots, w/ Evox M8 PBL Metoo.
The DVD Movies work fine and so do original games.
This is my first attempt to run a BACKUP game ... i haven't run a BACKUP game before.
Unfortunately i'm at work right now, but when i get home.. i'm going to attempt all the issues you have written to me about.. especially extracting the ISO and building the DVD again.
I have ZXBTools ... do i need to use QUIX or can i use ZXBTools ?
And no, i haven't ever boot a BACKUP XBOX Game before.
I have the Ritek DVD-R so i don't think Media is the issue. Besides, when i load up the Disc, it gets to the point where the Drive recognises it as a GAME as it displays "Game" at the top left hand corner in Evox Screen.
I'll try patching the ISO using the method you've told me to.
Can i use ZXBTools or QUIX (Whichever you recommend) to make the ISO again?
What Burning Software do you recommend for buring the ISO?
I tried Alcohol 120% but it gives an error and doesn't burn. I tried RecordNow Max/Deluxe... It also gives an error and didn't burn. I used DVD Decrypter... it's the only one which will Burn the ISO without errors.
Let me try the ISO patch and then i'll report back what happened.

So you have softmodded it ay.. Well, im sorry to say i have NO EXPERIENCE with SOFT MODS.. Hopefully if you already have EVOX installed and working with your SOFTMOD it wont be too different..
If your xbox can boot the EVOX DASHBOARD then there is NO REASON why it CANT boot backups...
Explain exactly what steps you have done to your xbox when you softmodded it for me so i understand.. Dont you have to flash the ONBOARD XBOX BIOS? Its been a while since ive followed SOFT MODDING!! Thanks for any info.

It doesnt really matter mate.. As long as you understand that you must create a .XISO of the game before burning it.. Most games when you download them from the NET are already in .ISO format.. Try games released by Project-X.. Their games are normally name px-halo.rar or px-halo.001.. Use winrar (http://www.winrar.com) to extract the .ISO from the multiple parts..
Heres and example of what a XBOX GAME should look like when the iso is extracted to your PC HDD:
e.g. If you have say Halo on your PC in this format:
C:\XBOXBACKUP\HALO\
C:\XBOXBACKUP\HALO\default.xbe
C:\XBOXBACKUP\HALO\VIDEO
C:\XBOXBACKUP\HALO\VIDEO\intro.bikl
C:\XBOXBACKUP\HALO\VIDEO\attract.bik
C:\XBOXBACKUP\HALO\SOUNDS\stage1.wmv
etc etc
You would use a XISO Creation tool like ZXBTools or QUIX to make the whole DIRECTORY 'HALO' into a XISO ready for burning.

Good idea..! Try downloading a really old game.. They didnt have protection in the old days.

I suggest people use Latest version of NERO or CDRWIN 5.0.. I have NO problems with either of these programs on all sorts of PC configurations and DVD Burners/CD Burners.
In fact, i finally did have sucess in running the games.. not completely, but i resolved the issues i was having before.
Here's what i did...
Extracted the ISO using ZXBTools... Rebuild the ISO using ZXBTools... Burnt to DVD using DVD Decrypter at 1x!
That worked!
Now i'm having secondary issues.
As of right now i'm having 2 recorded games. And i'm having problems with both.
The first is DRIV3R ... it starts up fine without any problems now. I get to the menus and options and intros and everything. But when i want to start a game, any game in it... it gets to "Loading..." and then freezes there. It doesnt go beyond "Loading...."
The second is NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND. The problem is, it's a PAL game... interestingly, i'm able to run all my PAL DVD Movies without any problem on my XBOX since i modded it.. so i assumed that i would be able to run the PAL Games as well. But unfortunately, what's happening is, the games starts up and everything, just that it's running as if a PAL thingw ould run on NTSC... you know.. Black & White, Scrolling up & down... it's not running proper like it should.
Any advice?

If your having problems running PAL/NTSC games on your xbox try using the ENIGMAH VIDEO SELECTOR for XBOX which is in our VIP Download section.. You may already have it installed on your xbox..
All you do is BOOT the ENIGMAH VIDEO SELECTOR and choose 'A' button for PAL or 'B' button for NTSC.. Choose PAL and then hold both R1 + L1 and press the 'black' button..
YOUR XBOX IS NOW PAL!
If you want it back to NTSC just do the opposite..
this will let you play your pals games..

I didn't know about the Enigmah Video Selector... but it does look like the solution to my NFS Game issue. I dont have FTP setup yet for my xbox, but during this week i will certainly do so and then download & have the Enigmah Video Selector running, which may solve the NFS issue.
I did actually try and path the DRIV3R game using the ADR Patch available in the downloads section... but ADR said that the game is already patched... so i dont' think that's the issue.
One thing that i did notice is...when you start the DRIV3R game, even before the Menus & Options, it asks you to create a Profile.. which i do... but right after that, in the top-right corner it gives "Sign In Failed". I don't know what that's about. I am able to go into the Menus & Options thereafter though.. it's just that it freezes on "loading..."

If you ever decide to chip your xbox, you will find backing up games to DVD is quite easy. Just in case anyone else wants a good tool, I have been using C Xbox Tool 2.
Basically, I use PxHDD loader to rip the game to my xbox, then FTP it over to my PC. Then I let C Xbox Tool 2 do the rest.
What I really like about this program is the ability to make a multi-disk game menu and multi-game disk. If you have a couple or even a few games that will fit on one 4.7 DVD R disk, then this program will allow you to put them all on one disk instead of wasting two or three. It's pretty sweet.
Also, I have been burning the .ISO files using CloneDVD2. It's very fast and has never failed me yet!

I dont' think i'll be installing a Mod-Chip in my xbox now.. because i have it softmodded. I will be using DVD2XBOX to rip my DRIV3R to xbox hdd to see if it runs that way because i found out that a lot of people have had trouble with DRIV3R like i'm having, so i'm not the only one.
Other then that i still need to try out the Enigmah Video Selector.
But your C XBOX Tool 2 seems cool... i think i'll try that and see how it works for me. I do have a few games which could fit on 1 DVD... so i'll probably use this.
I'll have to write the results of what i tried with DRIV3R and also when i get Enigmah Video Selector working to report what happened with me.

I had a question for you.
I have ordered my networking equipment which will take at least a week to get to my house... and i'm an impatient gamer i guess.
Is there some other way to get the Enigmah Video Selector and some other Apps that i need, lilke UnleashX etcetera... onto my XBOX, before my FTP starts working? Can i put these apps on a DVD Disc and using the Boxplorer on my xbox, copy them in the Apps folder or wherever required and run them?

Our XBOXHQ AUTOINSTALLER is great.. All you have to do is burn the .ISO file to a DVD-R/CDRW and then boot it in your MODDED XBOX..
We also have a EMULATOR AUTOINSTALLER with 20 of the latest emulators. It will let you choose what you want to install and to where..
Im sure if your xbox can boot backup games then you wont have any probs booting the XBOXHQ AUTOINSTALLER. Its the same as a BACKUP GAME.. (unsigned code)
In the autoinstaller there is apps and dashboards like:
EVOX
MEDIAXMENU
DVD2XBOX
XBOX MEDIA CENTER
CONFIG MAGIC (lock hdd)
DVD REGION FREE
+ many more apps
when your a VIP you have access to our VIP SUPPORT TICKET section too where you can submit a confidential ticket and we will walk you through the process. (WELL AS LONG AS WE CAN HELP!)
Maybe you want to help us here explain to other users who want to SOFTMOD..
In fact i did have most of the Apps i needed, i just needed to find a way to transfer them to my XBOX, which i did last night. I didn't get the time to setup everything to see if the games are working, but i did manage to get all the necassary apps to my XBOX. So later tonight i should find out if everything works.
In fact.. i would be more then happy and delighted if i can help people interested in Soft Modding. I can make explainatory diagrams, step-by-step instructions like a guide as well if necassary.
At this point i would suggest Soft Modding a lot more then Chip-Modding. After SoftModding my XBOX, i can do absolutely anything that a Chip can. And i didn't have to purchase anything at all, niether did i have to Solder anything at all. It was a very simple installation procedure and now my XBOX is capable of anything any modded XBOX is. I'm running any region DVDs, Backup games, any kind of Apps, etcetera.
I was afraid to Solder a Chip.. not to mention spend $20 - $40 on getting a worthwhile chip (+ Shipping) and then then fear of ruining things. I found the very easy way out.... SoftModding.

I had some good luck and some bad luck with what i tried last night.
The great news is that the DVD with apps worked fine. I got all the apps i needed.. arranged them properly... created XISO using QWIX, burned them to DVD using DVD Decrypter.
Loaded the DVD in XBOX, and using Boxplorer, very easily transfered all the Apps to my XBOX. And they ran perfectly fine. In fact UnleashX and XBMC are pretty cool. All the Apps i loaded from the DVD work great! I got a ton of them on the DVD, including Enigmah v2 and others.
Bad news is, DRIV3R & NFS Underground still won't work.
I know that half the people who've tried to run a backup of DRIV3R have had the same problem... it freezes on Loading.... although i would still love to see it work and have fun riding a little bit here and there because i'm too big a fan of car & riding games. I also tried launching the game through UnleashX, with UnleashX running in the background... but it didn't make a difference. Last thing i need to try with DRIV3R is copying it to HD using DVD2XBOX and playing it from HDD. I hope that works otherwise i don't know what to do with it.
NFS Underground is mysterious to me now. I honestly believed it would work. Enigmah very successfully switches XBOX from PAL to NTSC or vice versa. When i switched my XBOX to PAL using Enigmah, and rebooted it... everything started to scroll & appear black & white... which was GOOD news to me.. told me the XBOX had switched to PAL.. and everything looked exactly the way NFS Underground looked when played in NTSC mode... so i was certain now NFS underground would play fine... but unfortunately, NFS Underground still continued to look the same way... scrolling & black & white. This confuses me. How can it look the same way in PAL & NTSC both?
In NTSC mode... it looks just like my XBOX looks under PAL mode.
In PAL mode ... it still looks the same !!
I don't know what to do about it.
Would love to try if anymore tips for me. I'm running out of options here for both the games.

Finally... the game works!!!
I couldn't believe it. The amazing thing is, i don't know how they worked! When i had switched XBOX from NTSC to PAL or back to NTSC using Enigmah... it didn't make any difference. Now somehow my XBOX automatically has become a self-switching Console!!
Let me explain..
If you've read the posts above, you know that my XBOX (NTSC) was not playing backup PAL games. I installed Enigmah Video Selector v2 and switched XBOX to PAL and still PAL games looked wrong.
Last night the one thing i did different was. I put my PAL game DVD in the drive, switched off XBOX, and switched XBOX ON with the DVD in the Drive. And that's it!! When the XBOX loaded, it automatically started the Game, and this time, the Game ran FINE! It didn't run wrongly as it was doing before!! I tried "NFS Underground" and "Manhunt"... both PAL games.. and they work perfect now. And my NTSC games are still running perfect. I'm not switching through Enigmah... it seems like if the DVD is in the DRIVE... and you switch on XBOX, it automatically takes the relative mode (PAL or NTSC) according to the Game in the Drive.
Amazing!!!
DRIV3R still doesn't work... but i have yet to copy it to xbox hdd and try.. so i'm not too worried about that. The other games are working and i'm too happy about that!
BTW, Manhunt ROCKS!! and so does NFS Underground!!!
