i am a halo addict and i recently modded my xbox and i want to get some patches for halo and apply them. I dont have a computer with a ethernet port so i will need to do it via cd. Could somebody please tell me how to mod halo without a ethernet port!!!! if u kno where a site is that has a good tutorial just point me there, thanx a lot.

Well, since no one has replied yet....
I'm thinking...
Someone could email you the map file out of the cache and you could use Cartographer to edit the file, burn it to CD-RW, put it in the D drive, then use a file management program to copy it into cache file.
Would this work?

dude, if you fork out the money to but a ethernet card, it will be worth your while. if you can ftp your box, it opens up tons of possibilities for you. in fact, if you want i could upload a file that contains EVERYTHING you need to hack halo. it has like 7-8 different programs that you can use to edit different aspects of the game. you can make your own patches, edit the maps, phisics,.....EVERY FUCKING THING. the only thing is i think its like 94mb. thats the only reason i havent uploaded it yet. tell you what... if Forahobby, DJB,or real Mcoy say its okay i'll up load it today or tomorrow. then everyone can have acess to it. _________________ XBOX360

Care to elaborate on what exactly can be done?
I've just got into mapping modding in the past week. I've used Cartographer and it's neat, but I suspect it's just the tip of the iceberg!
I've changed the characters mobility (jet pack/wallwalking), made missiles guided, had hovering Scorpions...
what are the REALLY cool stuff?

you can change the physics. like make the warthog hog react differently to gravity. change the height of the hog, like if you were to add a lift kit to it, or make it a low-rider, you can speed up the vehicles, change what they shooy, how big explosions are, the impact of the explosions, the range of the explosions, the color of the explosions, the amount of damage a certian projectile does, the amount of force it applies to it's target, the way weapons shoot, if you want them to shoot one bullet or 50o bullets in one shot, how hard each weapons meele attack is, how far they fly when hit with it. you can change the scenery of levels, add vehicles to levels where no vehicles were preasent. import textures from other levels...did you see what i did with my patch "meatal rock" if not download HCEV07 from this site. this is the only site i've uploaded it to so this is the only site you can get it from. check it out. that patch was done using these tools. _________________ XBOX360

That all sounds way sweet! I have to someday soon give all that a whack!
Any suggestions for someone who is going to do that for the first time would be greatly appreciated. How much is involved with making all those changes?

Oh yeah, it's okay to upload that...HA, I want it.
The only thing is, do you have FTP ability to upload? The upload interface for the site is real picky and usually chokes if you try to upload something larger than 2MB. If you don't have a separate FTP account PM forahobby and he'll set one up for you.
Then you can make your own file system and manange all of your submissions. After you FTP the file, you just then go to the dowload section and select "Add Link" and link to your download.
If you want, I can login to my MSN account and if you have one you can just send me the file and I can upload if need be.

Yeah, like I said you won't be able to upload it cuz of size.
If you want, let me know and I can login to MSN messenger and you can file transfer it to me so I can upload for you.
Otherwise, PM forahobby and tell him you need FTP account to upload to the VIP section. Then, once you get the access PM me and I'll give you instructions on how to do it.
Also, do you think you could make a tutorial or something to include. That would be a great addition to the existing file.

i pm'ed forahobby, i'll wait and see what he says. meanwhile... the best info i can give you is to go ahead and save halo to your hard drive and that will let you access it with the spark edit program.... with the other programs, you need to access them from your cache files.
as far as writing tutorials on them... dude, that would literaly take weeks. there's ten different programs on there... i would rather answer questions as they are asked. i would advise anyone to f#&@ with the programs for a bit before asking q's. these do take time to learn and they're not for novices. you need patience as they are not things you will learn over night... but , i will say this. i cant wait till halo 2 comes out. God that will be the shit once i hack it.
P.S. do you have A.I.M.? because i tried to set up a msn instant messenger account, but someone already was using revelver944......bummer, i use that handle because i have a porsche 944 and carry a revolver (i am an armed gaurd) any way if you use A.I.M. add me to your buddy list... revelver944(it's free) and if all else fails, ill send the files to you in a package _________________ XBOX360

Cool, once I'll get an AIM account tonight and maybe hook up with you at some point later.
Once I get aquainted with the program, maybe I'll put some tutorials together as I am sure we are going to have a lot of people wanting to mess with it.
If we have a tut on it, we can just supply a link instead of explaining the same thing over and over again. I'll catch up with you later man, thanks for the info.
