Okay, i was going to mod my xbox. I am a novice to soldering and i was practicing on an old computer motherboard. I started to solder my xbox, but i did not even put any solder on it. I got the iron and solder close, but i was just to unsure of my skill, so i did not actually put any solder down on the motherboard. I just put it back together and now it wont start. it does the 3 time start up and then the flashing red and green. I took it back apart and it looked like i did not even touch the thing. i could not find any bits of solder anywhere, i even cleaned it with a cloth, but still the fragging. Is there anyway to fix this problem, or did i just have a big ffff-up. i thank you in advance.

gus you wont see an error code if you have christmas lights, go over your xbox first with a magnifying glass to see if there is an solder, if not then your definately gonna have to install a mod chip, and solderless is the easiest for those that are unsure on how to go about soldering.

Well guys that is the thing. I do have a chip with a solderless adapter, but it will not work. I got an x-chip and it came with that new solderless adapter for all versions including version 1.6, but i was trying to mod a v1.4 or 1.5, not sure, but anyways, the adapter did not work, so i did not have any other choice, but to do this. I do not know much about soldering, but i could not get the solderless adapter to work. And is there any place that will sell me an easy solderless adapter that would be compatible with an x-chip? i would appreciate help. and one more question.... is my x-box broke, or is it fixable?

Hey guys, what is a good solderless modchip? I still have my friends FRAG box and I would like him to still be able to use it and putting in a modchip is the only route. He doesn't want to spend a lot of money so I guess my question should be what is a good inexpenesive solderless chip. Thanks.

A good and cheap chip would be the DuoX chip. Its abuot the cheapest but it does get the job done. And there are solderless ones that make modding your busted xbox a breeze. Check out either www.divineo.com.

Did you take any ESD (static electricity) precautions?
