My xbox's going crazy... i need to flash the eprom (got a christmas lights problem)... anyone who knows how to fix this plz pm me, or post something to help me out.

im an hr away but i dont know anything about flashing eeproms....will that work? i have an xbox with christmas lights too....so if you find anyone with a solution pls reply in here.... _________________

Your gonna need a mod chip, no way around that problem, your tsop malfunctioned, so your gonna need a mod chip to basically replace the funtion of the tsop permanantly. _________________

I already have a mod chip... i had a post abou tthis problem a long time ago, but couldn't follow it as school started and had no time for it, i think i was told it was ether the chip was messed up and some link got scrached... or it's a software problem... seing as i never dropped or hit the xbox, i don't think it's a hardware problem... i think someone suggested it's the eeprom of the original xbox chip, i might need to flash it... but i was never told how. _________________ Xbox v1.6

Oh then you just need to reflash your mod chip if thats the case, that should fix the problem, but if it dont you may have to check your connections. _________________

sorry if i sound too noobish.. but i have no idea what this eeprom and locking/unlocking drives is... and how to fix it.. any advice on how to do this?

What mod chip do you have?, and you just need a new bios on the chip not eeprom, but if you want the eeprom off you xbox your gonna have to get it working again. _________________

and if so what could i do to make it boot without dvd cause i sold its dvdrom.... _________________

Someonelse, there should be a recovery mode switch on your mod chip if im not mistaken and also check the connections on your mod chip and the D0 wire is still making a good connection.
Cabbot yes a mod chip will make your factory xbox work again, as for running it with out the dvd rom you will have to look around im sure you still have to have the dvd rom still plugged in, or another harddrive which is more work. _________________

sweet...i think ill get a chip for it then...kinda sucks i didnt wanna buy a chip for my good box....but hey if itll make the xmas lights one work again....also i saw somewhere someone had an xbox slim with just a hd....ill have to see if i can find out how they did it..... _________________
