I’m hoping someone here can help me with a small problem I’ve got. I’m a complete newbie to this whole sofmod thing, but after reading and re-reading all the tutorials and such about it I’m going to have a go on my xbox at the weekend. I have one small issue though, after reading through the notes for installing using SID it mentions checking the Dashboard version, however when I look at mine there is no version number listed and I’m a bit unsure where to go from here?!? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Did you try to update the dash with a new live enable game like Halo 2? Just load the game, click live without being connected online. There's a trouble shoot update button(don't remember exactly) and that should update you. _________________ XBOX V1.4

No I haven't tried that yet, I've never been on Live so haven't bothered with things like that. I'll have a go tonight and see if that works. Thanks a lot for the help.

Have you thought of useing AID after you are finished with SID. If Im not mistaken it has an option for softmods to load the proper MS Dash as there tends to be some headaches with this for some people because if youre like me when you first start its easy to get the chip tutorials and the softmods mixed up.
These other guys can tell you about the New AID as I have not tried it yet. I have no need to. _________________

Based on my reading he won't need AID currently either.

Thank you for all your help, I’ve now managed to make sure my dash is the right version, but now I am having terrible problems trying to get SID 3.1 to softmod my xbox. I run through the instructions step by step , I’ve backed up the msdash and eeprom, installed softmod using nkpatcher for dual boot with evox as the hacked and the softmod menu for when the tray is open, I installed the hacked dash loader, installed evox and finally patch MS dashboard. When I power on using the tray I get the softmod menu no problem but if I power on using the power button I get Error 21. I’ve gone into file manager using the softmod menu and browse the files on the c drive and there is no evoxdash.xbe but there is an evoxdash.xbe folder so something isn’t working properly. Sorry for the long description but I hope all the detail can help someone to help me, its really getting to me now!!
Is it possible theres an error in the SID 3.1 Final config.xml thats in the AID 3.0 package? Just noticed that for the Evox dashboard load the command line is Item Action="Unzip" but for UnleashX it is Item Action="Copy"

that wouldnt be right since the mod wouldnt run.......
can you stil run aid 3 ? if so then go to advance options then put sid 4.5 to hdd then put as main dashboard ms dashboard..... after that coldboot your exploitable game and this time re mod it with sid 4.5 _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Thanks again for the replies. It is definitely an error in the config.xml file in the sid 3.1 package. I tried to softmod again but using the unleashx as the hacked dash and it worked first time, looks like the command should be a copy function rather than an unzip one. Now I just need to upgrade the drive and I'll have a nice new system to play with so I might be back again for help with that!!
