Someone gave me this xbox v1.0 said he changed the dvd for his other one said keep it bad mod chip. mod chip not in it, when turned on with either switch a green flash then goes to flashing red only no video of any kind. year later i find xchip in bag in my work desk. drag out broken xbox and dismantle. examine pin header solderless design loose on board. clean solder, flux and resolder.find x-control flash xchip, hookup and boot. power switch boots cromwell sort of (see picture) from eject solid green then light out beeps once no particular order powers off beeps flashes green solid yellow always ends up flashing red. research says hard drive locked, xbox EEprom corrupted I am screwed. any ideas? i have 3 other working xboxes so just a project to me. still i am strangely driven to mess with it. all other boxes are soft modded and i am curious about mod chips.

I don't recall ever seeing that kind of screen before. It must be specific to the modchip and seems to indicate an error on the hdd since it's referring to specific sectors.
Hmmm.. or maybe not. It also strikes me that it might be cromwell driven error msgs too.
I'm sure not sure. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I have had similar problems with cheeap chips. An unlocked HD should fix the issue. _________________ LED Rings $6 (doesnt include LEDs) LED ring pic

Well if your eeprom is corrupt and won't boot get Flashbios Unauthorized 3.01 or 3.03 (either here on VIP HTTP download section or at Xbins)
Flash this to your chip. It contains blank eeprom images for each xbox revision. Flash that to your eeprom and it will allow you to boot and such, however no xbox live.
Then get a eeprom, or just enter the serial and such into configmagic and regenerate a new one. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Try an older controller. Some of the newer ones have issues with some of the bios'. _________________ XBOX v1.6

hooked up an unlocked hard drive (tip of the hat jiggysmb)from another xbox and i can get rid of the hex/mnemonic stuff in background but cromwell still hangs (i saw on this site where certain versions of cromwell hang on v1.0 so i will assume this is why). reflash bios with flashbios 3.03 (thanks for the trip/tip, shortacid) and i am able to load bios. unfortunately i see of no way to unlock original harddrive. where's that hammer...
sucess as you can see. but configmagic will not work says eeprom is corrupted but evox dashboard backsup an eeprom.bin read somewhere that eeprom is 1 mb though ms bios is only 256k but written to eeprom 4x is this true is there a chance that eeprom evox backs up will unlock original hd. need to find xecuter2 bios password. hmm....
