Ok here goes....Extremely stumped and I am not a newbie at this stuff.
I had a xbox that I softmodded by hotswapping and using the hotswap softmod installer. Worked great, have done it hundreds of times. So I was going to upgrade the hard drive by adding in a 200 gig hard drive in plcae of the factory xbox hard drive. I have also done this about 15-20 times before without any problems. This time around I used the xboxhdm installed, created the xbox hard drive (option 1), softmodded the hard drive with the hotswap softmod installer, locked the hard drive using the saved EEPROM from the original factory hard drive. Put it in the xbox, error. Figured I made some simple mistake so I checked everything over it was right. Hooked it back up to the computer, its locked and will not unlock. Tried using the EEPROM to unlock it, won't unlock. In xboxhdm i did option 6 i think, to display info from the EEPROM file and wrote down the password double checked it many times and then used the linux and dos unlock tools using the password to unlock the hard drive, still won't . Not even sure if this works but I booted up my xbox with the modded factory hard drive and ran config magic off an AID3 disc then when the program was up swapped in the new hard drive, that couldn't do anything (didnt think it would). Now for about 6 solid hours I have been trying to use Pirrups hotswap method with no luck. Tried with the xbox dvd-rom IDE and power cables unplugged, if I try that with the already modded factory hard drive, it works. If I try it with the new unlockable hard drive, it just repeatedly gives me an error 6. Don't quite understand it. So I tried the other method of keeping the xbox dvd-rom IDE and power cable plugged in. I tried swapping the xbox and pc hard drive IDE cable right before the flashing lights, right instantly when the lights blink, when the screen changes to the error screen, waiting awhile after, waiting from 12-15 red blinks like i even read somewhere. NOTHING can unlock this damn hard drive for me. All I ever get is the error 6, except for when I swap the cable just a tad bit before the light starts blinking, then I get error 9.
SOMEONE PLEEEAAASE HELP ME WITH THIS!!! I AM STUMPED AND CAN'T STOP WITH THIS UNTIL I GET IT!!! _________________ XBOX v1.6c

What softmod did you use?
I had a problem unlocking a SID4 modded hdd because of the c: patition being ghosted. I had to unmound the virtual c: patition with AID before I could unlock it.

Don't know what you've done but it doesn't look good. Mabye put a wrong digit in - 0 as an O or something like that. This info was taken from www.llamma.com. Hope its of some help.

Wrong eeprom for motherboard.
Error code 9
Your Xbox motherboard is having trouble communicating with the Hard Drive. Check cables, this is probably due to an ATA controller on the motherboard and not due to the hard drive itself. (my personal experience, try replacing the hard drive and see how it goes) My recommendation for most is to replace the Motherboard and Hard drive as a pair.
