Hi, I hope it is alright to post this in this forum - I suppose it is a "newbieish" question...
I have a softmodded xbox that has always run fine. Today my son got an error when turning it on - the green screen with "your xbox requires service, etc" and a white "11" in the top-left corner. When I turn it on it always goes to that screen and the led flashes green/red. Once I was able to open the dvd tray and insert a burned game - it booted to the game and from there I was able to access the unleashX dash, and play the games stored on the hard drive. But once I powered off and turned it back on I am now back to the error screen with the green/red light... When I hit the button to open the dvd tray it does not open.
{update}
After about 10 minutes of turning it off/on the dvd tray finally opened and I could get the game back in, but it would still boot into that error screen. After powering the console off/on about 20 times it finally booted into the game, and I was able to get back into the unleashx dash again (hitting the back/start and 2 triggers), but as soon as I power the console off I get the error screen upon a reboot. Is there some file that might have gotten corrupt that I can check out? Or should I reinstall the dashboards with AID (if that is possible?)
Softmodded with upgraded 80gb hd. UnleashX is default dash.
Thank you very much for any help or suggestions.

Well the last time I could get the dvd tray open I inserted a dvd cleaning disk that I had - it booted and was recognized as an audio cd. I let it run for a bit, then powered off. This time it powered on into the unleashX dash. I took the cd out and it booted back into unleashx fine again (and has done so a dozen times in a row since). It seems that it is ok now, but I am still curious as to why this happened (makes me wonder if this would have worked the same if I'd just tried a normal audio cd as I doubt the cleaner did anything - it only ran for a few seconds). Any ideas why this happened, and why an audio cd would fix it?

The error code 11 is an error created by your dvd drive. When you did your mod, or had it done, there is a good possibility that the IDE cable in the back of the dvd drive either came loose or was removed and then not fully seated again. All you have to do is open up your xbox and look at the back of the dvd drive. Just push the IDE cable in and make sure it is fully seated. That should solve any future problems....If in fact that was your original problem.... _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html

Thank you guys. It still seems to be running fine now, and it has for months until this afternoon. If I experience the problem in the future I will open up the case and reseat the ida cable and power supply.
Thanks for the replies.
