I have a xbox version 1.0. The hard drive Is completely blank. I tried using the hot swap method in order to get it up and running. But I somehow was not successful. Unfortunately I blew the stock Seagate and now the harddrive doesn’t work period. I have another spare 50 gig that I can use. My friend gus738 told me about getting a chip for the xbox. He told me what the chip does because I am completely unfamiliar with chips for the xbox. I’m trying to figure out what type of chip to buy , how much it would/might cost me , and I prefer non-solderless if that is an option. Any ideas , someone please help me!!

Non-solderless? So you wish to pin solder the chip and that's cool.
I prefer the Xenium myself but I'm biased.
They offer solderless and pin solder models (it's the same plus or minus the mount, that's all)
There are cheaper chips, but I've read a lot of horror stories with them.
Mainly with flashing bios issues.

now the Xenium modchip that you have , its non-solder and how long did it take to install , im going to read a bit about it just like i did with softmodding so i cangett a better idea of what they actually do.

Using the solderless mount, I'd recommend about 45 minutes from cracking the first screw to tightening the last.

i read up on some modchips and talked about it with my brother and i think i found one for me. im definetely not soldering anything so the solderless mount is a must! i was look at the Xenium Ice Xodus modchip.
it comes with the solderless mount , the external leds , pin header install ,the wire loom for the power , and a usb socket. im no expert on modding but is this a good choice??? the site's link is here:

i looked at my xbox and again i have the 1.0 so i found exactly where its supposed to go so im figuring this would be a simple install. so tell what u think. heres the link:

I'm pretty biased myself, but it's towards the Xecuter brand. If you do go xecuter, I'd go with an Xecuter 3 CE chip, I have one of those and have installed many into various other boxes without any problems. But that's just me. With a 1.0 box, solderless install is a breeze. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

i think i have my mind made up. im ging with the Xecuter 3 CE. i read up about it and looked at some schmatics on installation. its simple to install , no soldering and it looks good. one thing i don't get is the green and red light , protect/unprotected thing. what does that mean?

Protected modes mean when it's able to be flashed by a hacked bios. It will come pre-flashed with a legal bios. With the X3 C3, you can flash via HTTP, which ROCKS! But basically it is just an indicator which mode it's in. Protected (can't be flashed) Un-protected (can be flashed). Get the drift? Hope that helps! _________________ XBOX v1.6c

so what site did u purchase u modchip fromcuz i looked on modchipman.com and the xecuter 3 ce was 79.99 including the solderless adapter. but then i checked on another site and the xecuter ce was like 34 bucks and the the xapter was only 15 bucks. what site did u use that had reasonable prices and it shipped in less than a week??

i think its a different country and i live in new jersey.
the price for the xecuter 2.6 ce and the xapter is less than 30 bucks.

iight i looked on the site. im going with Xecuter 2.6 Ce with the solderless adapter. price of them together is like 54 bucks. thats reasonable for me so im going with that. i know shipping and handling is gonna cost me a lil bit but thats fine. so is there anything else that i have to get or that i should get??? and if i order them together will it be one shipment?
