I have a xbox that doesn't have an original hard drive. I do have a new hard drive for it (seagate 120gb). I have software like configmagic and xboxhdm. I also have another modded xbox for swapping drives and such if that helps. Is there anyway i can softmod the new hard drive even though i don't have a backup of the eeprom?

well do you have configmagic on the box you want to put the hd in? if so why not just make an eeprom backup, it'll make your life a whole lot easier. but as for softmodding without an eeprom backup, i think you should look into hotswapping. i believe there's a way to softmod through hotswapping if i'm not mistaken. just do a search around the forums here, cause i'm sure i saw a guide somewhere.

If I read this correctly, xbox doesn't have hdd which means no eeprom. You can't hotswap a new hdd. You need a chip. _________________ XBOX V1.4

Yeah it has no hard drive. Isn't their someway to get the eeprom off the xbox without having a dashboard. Which mod chip should I get for this problem and easiest to use. Where?

what models are the two xbox`s & how are your soldering skills?
if possable you can unsolder the eeprom and put it in your modded xbox and then back it up.
since you can already make a xboxhdd image using the eeprom from your allready modded box, it would be quicker to effectivly swap the eeproms on the two xbox`s
If you have a 1.6 onwards this aint gonna work, sorry.

if i unsouldered the eeprom and put it in my modded box then my modded xbox's hard drive wouldn't work, right? i wouldn't be able to boot to the dash and make a back up. not sure what versions they are. but my unmodded box was made 7-17-2002 and my modded was made in 8-29-2002. both have thompson dvd drives, however, they had different hard drives. (i do have the original hard drive for the unmodded box however its formated and locked to my modded xbox)
