This is driving me crazy. I've spent the last 5 days endlessly reading post after post of how to FTP into the XBOX from PC. I've tried everything and when I ping the XBOX I always get "request timed out". In the system settings of the dashboard it says a link is established and shows the IP of the XBOX at the top. The line status is 100/Full Duplex. I'm using a regular Cat5E 10 Ft. cable with one crossover adapter at the end going into my Intel Pro/100+ PCI NIC. DHCP is not enabled in my network connection settings of my PC. Here's my ipconfig info:
Windows IP Configuration
TCP/IP is configured properly as far as I can tell by pinging both my local host and the NIC. I can't figure out what the problem is! I've tried turning on all the services in Windows XP because I had disabled some for better system performance, but now I've somehow lost my user profile settings for my desktop which is another reason to pull my hair out! I know that FTPing the XBOX should be a simple matter and I'm not an idiot. I can read fairly well and I've done my homework, but nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated.

How funny! I just found out what the problem is minutes after posting. Apparently I needed to disable a setting called "802.1p QoS Packet Tagging" in the device manager advanced settings tab for the NIC. I have no idea what that's for but I don't care because now I can access my XBOX! I hope this helps someone else out there. 100/Full Duplex is awesome by the way! I transferred 180mb of data in 35 seconds! Maybe that's nothing for anyone with DSL or Cable, but that's lightspeed for a dial-up user. And I got the NIC out of a dumpstered PC too! Thanks for looking at my post. Happy modding!
