OK, so i flashed my chip with the evox bios and created the iso boot CD. It loaded as expected but when I try to connect to my xbox with FlashFXP it doesnt work. Here are my current settings on my pc: ip 192.168.0.1 Subnet Mask 225.225.225.0 Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 (I am using a crossover cable) And here are the settings on my xbox: ip 192.168.0.2 Subnet Mask 225.225.225.0 Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 I enter quick connect in FlashFxp and type in the xbox's ip under server or url and xbox for user name and password and I leave remote path blank. When I try to connect it says connection timeout as if the xbox is not responding. also if i try to make changes under the settings in the evo dash they dont save when i press a on exit and there is no save changes and exit button.

i had trouble too connecting to my xbox, make sure in the settings/info on your xbox you have "yes" beside setup network and static IP and beside the DNS leave nothing, also try changing your pc ip to 192.168.1.101 and your xbox ip to 192.168.1.100 and dont use anything under the DNS server addresses,i believe that your comps ip has to be larger than the xbox's,thats how mines setup and works fine everytime,if that doesnt work ill think of something else, hope that helps, later

The settings menu is very long. Make sure you go all the way to the bottom. You should see 'Exit' and 'Save & Exit.' (can you believe I just found that out a couple days ago?!)

If for some reason it isn't there borrow a router and put an autoinstaller in the drive. It should set up a network and everything for you.

Good Luck

i had a lot of probs in the beginning with the ftp to and my all my settings were correct but the problem was my firewall i.e. zone alarm so one time what the hell i try shutting it off and bam i was instantly in the xbox so if you have a firewall try changing its settings or just turn it off when u want to ftp your xbox

I dont see save and exit on my menu so i cant edit the changes. I think evo dash needs to be installed on my xbox before i will be able to change any settings but i have to connect via flashfxp to install it on my hard drive, right?

hi cgray526,

Sign up as a Normal member mate.. It looks much nicer when you post! Smile

anyway on to your prob:
No you dont need to install the EVOX DASHBOARD..

I would suggest this:
Become a VIP Member and download the XBOX HQ AUTO INSTALLER v1.2 Smile

All you have to do is burn the .iso file to a DVD-R/CDRW and boot it in your MODDED xbox!! It will come up with a menu and ask you what you want to install.. Smile Thats the easiest way for newbies.

As long as your xbox modchip is flashed with a hacked bios then you will be able to boot a backup fine and any auto installer Smile.

The Cromwell bios IS NOT A HACKED BIOS.. It only allows your xbox TO BOOT LINUX!

EVOX DASHBOARD is the application that ENABLES (allows) your xbox to FTP files.. Without it you cant FTP!

hope that helps,

cheers,

forahobby

hi cgray526,

Yup the XBOXHQ Autointstaller will format/patition and install all the latest evox dashboards, MedaXMenu, Avalaunch, XMC and many other of the coolest xbox releases.

Basically if you xbox is already modded and working fine at the moment with your retail xbox hdd in it. Just follow these easy steps.

1. Buy a New XBOX HDD (whatever size you fancy) (e.g. 120gb)
2. Download the XBOX-HQ AUTOINSTALLER and burn to DVD-R/CDRW using NERO or DVDDecrypter (freeware)..
3. Boot the XBOX-HQ AUTOINSTALLER in your xbox with your ORIGINAL RETAIL XBOX HDD still installed.. Make sure the menu comes up.. When it does shutdown your xbox and get ready to install your new 120gb XBOX HDD.
4. Open your xbox.
5. Remove your old XBOX HDD (Retail) and take note of the JUMPER settings on the HDD.. Make sure your new 120gb HDD matches the settings of the old XBOX HDD.. (normally CS-Cable select)
6. After installing your NEW 120gb HDD into your XBOX screw it all back together.
7. Keep your old RETAIL XBOX HDD for if you have any problems in the future.. You can just open your xbox and reinsert at anytime if you have problem.. YOU HAVENT CHANGED ANYTHING ON IT SO THATS GOOD!
8. Now with your new 120gb XBOX HDD installed and your xbox just screwed back together BOOT THE XBOXHQ AUTOINSTALLER.
9. CHoose the option FORMAT/PARTITION NEW LARGE HDD Smile
10. It will say are you sure and all that junk.. You have nothing on this drive anway as its brand new so it doesnt matter.
11. Once its done you can then choose to install what ever apps you want at the touch of a button.
12. I suggest you install all applicatons including the EVOX DASHBOARD.
13. You now need to lock your new XBOX HDD
This isnt a big deal unless you want to turn your MODCHIP OFF.
When you turn off your modchip it will give a error because your new HDD isnt locked like the xbox knows it should be.
14. Use config magic or avalaunch to lock your hdd. I think there may even be a option int he AUTO INSTALLER menu to lock the NEW HDD.
15. Thats it..

If you dont lock the HDD your xbox will still work perfectly but only with the modchip turned 'ON'.

Hope ive been some help dude.

cheers,
