I've got a couple of mame roms that are saying that they need more memory, is there a different emulator that can handle these or what? Also I understand that some of the games need special bios? files to work for example neogeo games, but some of them ask for bios i cant find, so is there a list of all the possible bios that mame needs? not a place to download, but a list? _________________ "Pain has a face, allow me to show it to you."

Depending on which version of Mame you are useing some of the larger games will work due to the fact that they are set up to use a memory swap file which a normal mame build doesn't use. the reason some don't work is that this is only on certain games as for the others, the Xbox only has 64MB of ram so you are pretty much out of luck on these unless you mod your board and add more RAM. Some games tend to get pretty big when they are unzipped to run in MAME and MAME normaly has to load the whole set into ram to be able to work.
There is a handy little file in your MAME dir. That works with Romcenter Just be sure to read about romcenter before you use it.
The NeoGeo Bios is a different version than what MAME uses MAME either quit useing it or never used it as it contains illeagal hacked bios files for cheating in games. You can go through your setting in Mame for Xbox and tell it which version of the bios you want to use,,,, just select a version that you have.

what about using kawa-x? Someone was telling me on a different site that that emulator would run all the roms perfect _________________ "Pain has a face, allow me to show it to you."

Never tried it,,, Between Mame and FBA XXX they play all of the ones I would want to play _________________

Just FYI-
Mame runs all NeoGeo games I've tried- but you have to put the neogeo.zip in your rom folder.
When Mame boots a NG game, it'll grab it. It's the bios needed to run NG games.
I found out- after deleting it & then none of my NG games would work LOL.
Just get the NG bios bin (zip).... they'll be runnin then!
As mentioned, some of the newer games arent gonna run due to memory & needed .chd files which take alot of space.
Its poss but not worth the trouble IMO.
I never got FBA XXX to run, so I dont know about it.
Kawa X freezes on me, but hey mame does the job.....

The bios is what is need for the emulator to run the games. You will need the bios files in order for the emulator to work. I believe MAME comes with some of them, however there are some you will have to track down your self. _________________ "Pain has a face, allow me to show it to you."

I understand what it is. I have NEO GEO bios' out the a** including the universal bios i use for my handheld and home built systems.... Just never heard of this mysterious bios you simply dump into rom folder that allows the play of "all" NEO GEO roms on Xbox. Has anyone else heard of or know of this to be true?????

I got them about a year or two ago from a torrentspy.com (you will need a torrent program, such as Utorrent to download the files though). All the NeoGeo Roms I have run on my Xbox. The only difficulty you will have with NeoGeo roms, as well as newer Arcade Roms is the memory limit of the Xbox itself. Newer games like Samurai Showdown 5 won't run on the xbox as it dosen't have the memory for it. You can get a ram upgrade for your Xbox, although I can't remember the website of the company that provides this service at the moment. _________________ "Pain has a face, allow me to show it to you."
