It says

7. Turn on the PC, Before the PC BIOS looks for hard drives, hit the Pause/Break key. It should pause at this time.

8. Turn on the Xbox .

9. It will boot to an error code(nr 11) regarding the dvd-rom, but the hdd will be unlocked, this way you'll get xboxhdm to access it on first attempt Now remove ide from hd and swap it to the pc

So basicly they want me to turn on my pc AND my xbox while they are ON and swap ide cables.... DO YOU GUYS THINK IM INSANE...Im NOT going to KILL myself trying to install an ms dash...

Is there any other way to do it w/o the possibilty of killing myself (literaly)

What you need to do is:

Start the XBox and wait until it gives the error code, starts to FRAG(Flash Red And Green), or light to solid green and power up(as the case may be).
The XB HDD is now temporarily unlocked until the PC or XBox (either one) reboots.
Now, gently unplug the XB's IDE cable from the XBox HDD and gently plug the PC's IDE cable into the XB HDD. LEAVE THE XBOX TURNED ON UNTIL YOU TURN OFF THE COMPUTER! (it is supplying the power for the XBox HDD)
Now put your XBox HDM 1.9 cd your PC's cdrom drive and press enter on your PC's Keyboard.

Idea I don't see much risk of an electrical shock, BUT when you are dealing with two electronic devices that have power to them there is always a possibility.
I have personally performed 20-30 HotSwaps without so much as a spark, or even hearing a buzz Exclamation

BTW: The voltage going through that IDE cable shouldn't excede +5 Volts DC
The highest voltage you should find on the either PC's or XBox's Motherboards should be 12VDC (in the POWER SUPPLY you will find 120VAC, so be careful there)

When I had to do the hotswap thing on my xbox, I had to have the video cable plugged in.......it didnt have to be hooked to the TV, but it did have to be plugged in the xbox. It wouldnt try to bootup, just blink orange.

Once the light started blinking red, I only had about 2 or 3 seconds to switch the IDE cable or the hard drive would re-lock.

I'm not aware of a Game that will allow you to transfer files.

I think that you are past what an XBox Live update can fix.

The problem with the hotswap is that the HDD either did not unlock or it relocked. You need to make sure that the pc DOES NOT reboot, even a warm boot! The P.O.S.T. sequence will reset the HDD and relock it.
When you are doing a HotSwap you may need to do the Swap a few times before you get it right(it took me 5 or 6 tries).

More over, if you look at it as a competition between you and the Box, it will minimize your frustration level. ("J'youcandoowiit!!!" -Robb Schnieder) Twisted Evil Wink

Do you have to plug the IDE cable from your computer in under 3 seconds? I tried hotswapping last night but i couldn't get it to work it kept saying it was locked.

if the xbox boots to an error (in normal state) then you will need to have the correct timing.
