My friend got a used xbox when ya turn it on it asks for a password....Is the password on the hdd or the motherboard? Im woundering because if i mod it and format the hard drive 3will it remove the password or if i put in a bigger hdd? i just need to know if the motherboard is locked or is the password just on the hdd...Thanks guys any help is great

well it sounds like he locked the hard drive, so yea you will need the serial number off the harddrive itself. That is if he had a larger hdd installed b4 u got it. I dont think it would be the motherboard, just the hdd. Try getting the serial number and use it.

To me it sounds like the person that had it before put Linux on it.
Does it have a chip?
If it does, Try AID 3.0.
If it doesn't, I'll bet if you Hotswap the HDD and reload everything (MSdash or whatever you want) it will be just fine.
