EDIT:

It looks as though the issue was caused by my television and/or resolution settings of the EvolutionX dashboard. I turned off the "mute digital video noise" feature of my television and saw that the x-box was indeed outputing video, however at the wrong resolution or refresh rate. This results in a garbled image that prompted my television to produce a blue screen. I am still trying to figure out how to change resolution / refresh settings in evolution x.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone,

My apologies for a long post. I wanted to be a through as possible in explaining my problem. I am a complete noob when it comes to x-box modding in general, so please bear with me. Before starting this process I tried to read up and become as prepared as possible. I downloaded AID 3.0, made a USB to X-box adapter, and obtained a copy of the original Splinter Cell release. Hopefully someone will show me where I went wrong.

My X-Box system info:
K 1.00.4034.01
D 1.00.5960.01
Connected to an SDTV by Microsoft Brand component cables

Background:

1. Installed X-box Action Replay Version 1.40 on my PC

2. Connected my flash drive to by x-box via my gameport adapter cable
---(In order to format my drive)

3. Connected my flash drive to my pc and read PID and VID hardware ID codes from it (via USBVIEW.EXE) in order to correctly edit Action Replay's xbreader.inf file.

4. Correctly installed Action replay's USB driver to allow savegames to be written to the flash drive.

5. Downloaded 2 "dummy" Action Replay gamesaves which I pulled "datelinfo.xbx" files from so that Action Replay would allow my SID files to be written to the flash drive.

6. Successfully copied SID45.NK.Loader.SplinterCell.NTSC.zip and SID45.NK.Launcher.zip to my flash drive.

7. Connected my flash drive to my XBOX and copied the savegames to my X-Box hard drive.

Install Process:

8. Loaded splinter cell, selected Start Game, Loaded the "Linux" profile then selected checkpoints.

9. "Unleash X" logo flashes on the screen for a second, then unit displays "Softmod Installer Deluxe 4 N-Knave Edition"

10. Under "Backup / Restore Features" I selected "Create EEPROM Backup" and followed the steps to create a backup in E:\UDATA\21585554\000000000000\backup\

11. Created an MS Backup to "E:\Backup\MS\"

12. Selected Install Softmod and "Knave's Ndure, Open Tray = Retail", then "Install EvolutionX as Dash"

13. The installer prompts that I have backed up my EEPROM and that no other softmods are installed, and shows "All Requirements Pass" after checking for the 5960 MS Dashboard.

14. At this point the installer begins its copy process during which time several beeps can be heard.

15. After finishing the file copy process, "Softmod successfully installed" is shown, and the installer prompts for shutdown in order to complete the process.

The Problem:

16. I turn the unit back on by pressing the eject button in order to remove my Splinter Cell game. The X-Box will boot to the X-Box live connection screen. (I assume this is the retail functionality of the the dual boot loader) It will not however let me go back to the x-box live portion of the MS-Dashboard (by pressing the "B" button).

17. When powered on by the power button (no media in drive) the inital X-box startup sequence will play, followed by the "Unleash X" logo for a split second. This is quickly followed by the X-Box's front LED turning a solid red, and no video will be displayed on screen.

-I can still boot to, and play games just fine. I can load SID 4.5 Nknave Edition from Splinter Cell without any problems.

Thank you in advance for any help Smile

my friend what you have there is a perfect successful softmoded xbox

the red led is normal , it indicates that the softmod is active

as for retail mode... its normal too but im guessin u didnt read the threads as much right????

well on retail mode on sid 4.5 u cannot have full msdash support its impossible ..

however it is accessible, to get full ms dash u can go on modded mode..

then acess ms dash from there...

I am having the exact same problem exept when the uleashx splash appears for the split second my screen goes nuts and scrolls these fuzzy lines real fast, you can hear the menu changing items if you play with your controller but the video is all messed up, you can even hear the rave music when you insert the AID 3 disk. i am at a loss, have you figured this out yet
