sounds like your doing the right thing, but with the wrong media.
not all xbox dvd drives will accept all kinds of burnt dvds.
use Memorex DVD-R, it will work on any xbox to date.
also if you got some movies on dvd+r, use the same media(discs) to burn your games, and they should work as well. _________________ Xbox v1.1

thanks for the reply nknave. I first tried to use the memorex dvd+r's for the game backups, but no luck, so I gave the dvd-r's(maxell) a whirl. All the movie backups I have are on the memorex dvd+r's and they play in the xbox fine, thats why I'm stumped as to why the game backups on the same media won't load up. The dash reads that the D tray is empty.
I will go grab some memorex dvd-r's just to see if they work but shouldn't the audio cd-r's I have load up in XBMC? They are just regular audio backups that play in all my cd players fine.
Are there settings in the xenium screen that may be wrong? The unleashX settings? Is there a file on my chip I need to flash? Thanks again!

Hi, to recap where I'm at:
xbox: v1.6
HDD: retail (for now)
Chip: Xenium SPice OS 2.0.1
Dash: unleashX
Additional Bios: not sure.
I did not install this chip, so I'm not fully aware of what BIOS was installed. Under the E/bios/ file there are two .bin files. They are: m16unleashedx.bin (256KB) and m16unleashx1.bin (256KB). Are these correct?
My normal audio cd's (silver) play fine, and my memorex dvd+r movie backups that play on my modded xbox (app donglefree) also play on my friends unmodded xbox, though I do not need the remote control. That leads me to believe that the original TSOP bios is playing the media. Could this be the problem?
The app dvd2xbox creates a perfect running backup of an xbox game I have to the e/games folder. Would this be possible if the bios was not hacked? I FTP, play emulators, unlock the hard drive and everything but the backup media will not load! Please help!

In the VIP ticket that I closed since we are now down on the forums, I had recommended installing the 4983 Bios. See if that makes a difference for you.

OK, thanks for the reply. I got the 4983.67_noani.bin (256KB) file and put it in the E/bios file with the m16unleashedx.bin (256KB) and m16unleashx1.bin (256KB).
In the Xenium launch menu I went to "add an Item", chose "Flash" then chose the 4983 file. I named it 4983 then launched it. Then the xbox turned off then came on again to the Xenium OS 2.0.1.
Did I install the BIOS correctly?
...and yup using nero to burn...thanks again!

Yup, that's exactly how the Xenium should act. So upon boot up at the Xenium OS, you should be able to pick that bios and boot with it (it kills the flubber too, which I enjoy since I know damn well I'm playing an Xbox).
Now try your games and see how they do. Nero rocks but burn at the slowest speed to guarantee success.

IOf you still have problems try using dvd decrypter to burn the iso. Always burn at the slowest speed. _________________

Thanks again for the replies. I think this may be a little trickier than I thought. Every time I try to launch the 4983 from the Xenium OS launch menu it reboots the xbox back to the main Xenium start page. I try to launch after the reboot but it does the same thing. I have deleted and re-downloaded and re-installed the [4983.67_noani.bin (256KB)] file a couple of times with the same results.
I currently have three launch items: original BIOS-A (boots to ms dash), unleashedX (boots to unleashX dash V0.37), and the 4983 which doesn't boot.
In risk of sounding uber n00bie, how can I tell which hacked bios I have? Is it the m16? After having my box chipped I stupidly pushed return to default settings which removed the launch items that were there, so I followed the iceguide to re-flash the TSOP and the unleashedX.
I went back through the iceguide I have (8 Aug 2004) and it says the evolution-x m8 bios works with v1.6's, so I put that into the E/bios and flashed like the 4983 file. It did boot up, showing the evo-x logo in the upper left but then went to the MS dash. No recognition of the media here either.
The installer said that some newer Xbox DVD drives are impossible. Should I replace mine? Is this easy to do? Better yet, would this fix the problem? I plan to put my 160gb drive in tonight, I'll see what D/ is in there.
Any bios flashing/install tips? Something I'm missing still?

another possiblity is the way your burning your media .. on ur settings on nero or what ever program you using... finilise the disc and make sure its an iso/udf image file... _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Alright! Ditched Nero and went to Alcohol and ta-da what do you know, a perfect running backup! 6x was the slowest and it is cool on the memorex dvd+r. Such an easy solution, figured it shoulda been more difficult...

Hmmm, weird... First time I've ever seen Alcohol out perform Nero... O.o Hey, give us a test run, m8. Try out DVDDecrypter. It's free and you can google "Dvd Decrypter Download" and you'll find the link. See if that works too.
