i installed an x3ce w/ the control panel on a 1.6.
i got two blue lights(alt 5v) showing on the chip and the x3cp is working (mostly).
my prob is; when i boot up it goes to the MS dash. the x3 logo on the control pannel lights up red and stays red. the flash protect works (press in for green light, on pannel and on chip). the bank buttons light up blue when pressed.
of the hd/lan leds on the pannel onely the red one on the left lights and blinks(witch i asume is normal?). but i dont get the bios screen and i dont see anything on the lcd display(its as if it werent even pluged in). but i asume its just cause i would have to configure it.
so basically i just need to know why the x3 logo is red and there is no bios screen, just ms.
do i need to press a certain combo of banks? ive tried diff combos and somtime ill get cristmas lights. but it never goes blue(bios screen)

If all the lights on the chip light up like they're supposed to, I believe there are a couple blue lights and a green and possibly a yellow then the chip is installed properly.
I would check to make sure the chip is enabled. Try holding down the white button during boot. I'm sorry if this is information that you already know. The red x on the control panel means that the chip is disabled. Also, make sure you properly flashed the chip with the correct bios.
My msn info is listed so if you need any further advice, I'll help out as much as I can. Sorry if everything I said was stuff you already know but it never hurts to say it. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

so me and T-rizz tried some stuff. but i boared him and he had to go to sleap.
we went through some eliminations. i tried all dip combos twice. with flash protect on and w/ it off. i tried booting with the white button on the controler compressed. i tried connecting http and ftp to 192.168.0.1 (ftp w/ x3 being name and pass). that is the default ip, correct?.
i understand now that the chip is diabled and thats why its red on the x3 logo.
i though that booting in the backup 256 would work. but i tried(by pressing and holding both eject and power. then tapping and trying) and it didnt work.
im not fraging.
just not booting from chip.
edit: ok, recent info:
a quick tap wont work. and neither will the back up. so it is a solder problem i asume. is there anyone with such particulare experience that could sugjest what i might eliminate? for example i have all lights on the chip working and the pannel. so i dont need to worry about such and such connection... but i should check bla bla bla
in the mean time i am goin to go look over the lpc

Sounds like a D0 problem if its not booting the chip cromwell's bios.
Resolder the ground, make sure you had properly scratched the surface to remove the resin. If you fair well at soldering, desolder the rebuild, b/c even I who have put in quite a few and solder in other things, put it in so that there was a curvature on the rebulid, pulling the solder contacts from certain rebuild points away.
But check the d0 for sure, thats what boots the bios. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Just for the record.....I wasn't bored lucface, I just needed my sleep Getting up at 5:00am to drive an hour to work is tiring. I would have stayed up all night and helped if I didn't have to work. But it sounds to me like shortacid is right, I would check your D0 connection, that's probably it since we eliminated everything else. _________________ XBOX v1.6c
