Helped a friend softmod (duel boot with ghost partion on stock hdd) a v1.6 with SID 4. Worked great very easy even for me as I don't even own an Xbox. Now its time to get to the point. He booted with tray open in stock mode poped in halo 2 and tried to sign in from the game. He said a green screen came up (that kinda reminded him of the stock dash) and said something about updateing. He said he'd never seen this screen exspecialy from a game so he freaked and unpluged it. My question is has anyone seen this screen from a game or is this normal after a softmod? I told him to use the restore ms backup (which needs to be done anyway since he shut it of during and update and screwed the ghost partion) and login from halo 2 and see if he gets the same screen.

I know what happened.
You didn't make Xbox Live Gamer TAG!, before installing SID 4's Ndure.
You see, you only get that if you try to make an account, it will try to update your dash and fails to do it, and next time he boots with open tray, he will get an error code, or just a black screen.
Please make sure you read throughly before you install.
If this isn't the case, then i don't know, as far as i know, there is no new M$ Dash Update.
Solution: Uninstall SID 4, back in retail, make xbox live gamertag, once it's good to go on xbox live, you reinstall SID 4's Ndure, and it should work out just fine. _________________ Xbox v1.1

Same thing happned to me last night after i popped in HALO 2 after not playing on live for months. It said new updates were available for HALO 2 and i just clicked yes, let it update. Once it was done it booted back to the game then everything was fine.
Jus fix the virtual C if something got messed up, and update as normal once he connects to live. Thats what i did and everything is working fine for me.
**I used Krazie Ndure Installer, dont know if that should make much, if any, of a difference**

Krayzie's installer, and SID 4 are almost Identical, SID 4 is more secure and has many other boot options, so your not just stuck with Open Tray=retail.
Glad you got it fixed, and as for Not Playing H2 for months.
You know they are constantly updating the game agaisnt cheaters, it doesn't mean you'll download new maps. _________________ Xbox v1.1

He already had a gamer tag and was uptodate he was playing on live right before we modded. What worried him the most was it didnt ask it just started on its own but this was about a day and a half after he modded. I"ll just have him restore ms dash, loggin, and see what happens. Then redo the mod loggin and see what happens. Nice work on the installer and can't wait for AID 3. Have a feeling I'll be doing a few more for friends.

This update that is from the halo 2 game is for the V 1.1 update. Once you press ok, for the update, it will send you a ms dash borad looking thing and it will update. Once this is done it will reboot the game and you can sign in normally. After that you will need to download the 3 map packs from content download to play matchmaking. This is what I did and it worked fine for me. I also think you are not banned and that you will not get banned if you update but I don't know if your talking about the same update here so...

i got the same thing i loaded the game and it needed to update and / the way through and got an error and fucked up my ms dash i think it may have patched something that halo dosent recognize may be a glitch but if you uninstall the softmod ull be fine
