Hi all,
I've just purchased the Xecuter 2.6 CE Mod Chip & Xapter & feel ok about installing it just need a few tips on what to do next.
Obviously I would like to play backup games on my xbox and also want to play divx / xvid dvd's.
I have a version 1.0 Xbox, & am confused what bios & dashboard would be best to install.
Any suggestions welcome, the more I read the more I confuse myself Also to play divx's do I just need to install a certain dash or another 3rd party program?
From what I see the community here is a lot more noob friendly than certain other forums

You can install just about any main dashboard you want for general boot up, and I prefer the X2 Bios, but some like the EvoX M8 bios' better. For playing DVD's and a whole slew of audio and video playback, you really should install XBMC. You'll have to look around at the "usual" sources for a compiled version, or you can get the latest build here in the VIP downloads section...

14 total successful solder-mod xbox's (v1.0 to v1.6b; favorite is v1.4 Sept 2003; very clean motherboard and usually has Samsung DVD), including two 128MB upgrades and 2 X3 LCD/CP's.

Just finished installing the mod, was a lot fiddlier than it looks in the tutorials but not too bad.
Luckily my philips drive accepts benq cdr's so didnt need to waste a dvd burning the bios to it. Used X2 5035 in the end.
Just burning AID 2.0 to install XBMC so hopefully all should go smoothly.

Have now installed xbmc but it doesn't boot up as my main dash.
I installed in in E:\ drive so to boot the dash I have to load AID & select boot dash the choose E:\ drive.
Is there any way i can get my xbox to boot from this drive or is it advisable to install xbmc over the top of ms dash?

I installed X-Select from AID its under the advanced section. It lets you select what you whant to load at boot. It may not be the best way to pick your default dash, but it works for me.
