Hello im a noob to soft modding , I have My xbox soft modded with splinter cell I downloaded xboxhdm,smart ftp, i followed tuts and nobody tells me how to change the hard drive with a soft modded xbox. i have a seagate 120 gb hd,I havent played in a week now cause i want to complete my hard drive switching mission. Please Help

But My xbox does not have a chip all I use is soft mod i tried the xboxhdm and the new hard drive wont let xbox get pass the Ms screen .
Now i use the eeprom from the ftp should i then turn on my soft mod and ftp it. then get the eeprom from there. the first tut link i done that b4 the hard drive is formated it just wont get pass the Ms.

With a softmodded box, First you need to make a back up of the eeprom. Second ftp the eeprom to your pc along with the directories mentioned in the xboxhmd tutorial. Third make an iso. The disk you create will prepare you new hdd. Once you have the new hdd, you will have to softmod that.
Don't do anything with your old hdd. This is your saving grace. If you unlock it or delete any thing from it, you'll have to concider buying a chip. So DO YOU HOMEWORK FIRST.

Ok here's what I've done . everything the tutorial showed me Im positive i did that correct cause iI've done it twice.
Now when i put the New hd in the box iits stays on the Title screen (with the Big x and lil xbox and ms logo(no dash) ..thats it Im sure the ms dash is on the drive (because it got as far as showing the intro screen).
I dont know . i dont have a chipped box could that be the problem?. i mean I do have soft mod on my stock HD but no chips , was the tutorial for chipped xb?.hmm Please help I feel Im so close.

I'm thinking that maybe you didn't lock the harddrive afterwards. What make and model is your New HDD that you are trying to use?? some of the models can't be locked at all. Not for love nor money.
Let me know what make and model it is.

yeah the program that u can use keeps saying my drive is frozen everytime i try to lock it and that i need to change the bios settings so that it dosnt auto-detect my hard drive. i have tried everything to do this in my bios and it still wont work. could it be that my hard drive isnt compatible? i have a maxtor 80 gig hard drive that i got like a year ago and never really used for anything plz help me im confused and pissed it is tankin forever to figure this out

It will tell you if your hard drive can be used properly in an xbox. Coincidentally, can or have you used it a pc at all?? if so did you have any problems with it there. Maybe you got a virus on it there. Try formatting it in a pc first also then trying everything with the xbox.
