to the many people who have likely encountered this error while softmodding:

Code:
BEGIN extracting E........\files\apps.rar
Unrar failed "E:\apps\dvd2xbox\acl" error code : 0
END unrar operation

i had this happen on 2 xboxes...i got both of em to work by changing the video settings from NTSC 16x9 to 4x3 from within the same prog. you used to create the MS dash backup/install softmod.

all should go smoothly!

How the HELL did you figure THAT out? Shocked

I had this same problem, but in my case, it ONLY ever happened when using SID 2.0. SID 3.0 on the same box with no changes worked fine (maybe SID 3.0 used a different video setting????)

Cool!

i had 2 xboxes that had been previously used on HDTVs...the first box I modded wasn't set for that. Just to make sure, the only thing I changed in the settings was the aspect ratio, and it loaded just fine.

I was just a noob at this until Saturday night, and happen to stumble across that easy fix for it. Just tried to change all the settings on the 2nd and 3rd boxes to the ones that were on the 1st one that worked.

Hope it works for everyone else as well

Damn, d00d, nice find. I'm sure that will help un-piss-off a lot of HQers. Thanks, man!

Thanks for the tip. I spent nearly two hours attempting to figure this out before deciding to look on line for a similar problem. Cleared it right up and I still have some hair left.

Only just found this hehe.

Good find theinlaw Smile

Like everyone else I'm surprised that the video settings was the problem with it. I remember testing SID 2.0 out at hobb's place and getting that problem.

Also, it will only be SID 2.0 that has that problem, becuase SID 3.0 and above only uses the ZIP format and doesn't use RAR at all. I stopped using it because it was coming up with these problems and I had no idea on how to fix it.
