Fisrt i think i should introduce myself...
My name is Brandon, I live in Kansas, and am one of the biggest X-Box fans you would ever meet. I have been a webmaster at multiple sites, most of which you have never heard of. hax0rz.us, zircury.com, and now planetwarez.org (down)... I'm new to Xbox modding but dont think i know quite a bit about comps and and a little about linux shell and other things...
Well enough about me, heres my question:
Well,
So i have my original X-Box 8 gb HDD...
I softmodded it using My Splinter Cell game and installed i THINK the latest version of EvoX...
FTP is set up and i can boot fine from my 8gb HDD...
Now, I'm no n00b at computers but, well looks like i did everything as told to make the CD
Well I booted from the CD I made (I do have eeprom backup)
I went throught the whole tut (Formated Drives C, E, and F)
Rebooted like it said and then i locked the HDD...
I went upstairs to my xbox and put it in and tried to boot.
Notw its starts as normal (front light is solid green) and then It gets to the Xbox logo... Hangs for about a half second, Flashes to the blue VID. screen (like when you switch it to video w/o anything running through the A/V ports) and the quickly flashes to the Xbox logo w/ microsoft below it hangs again and repeats over and over..
I can still boot from my 8gb HDD...
I'm going to keep that one sitting in a special place just incase i ever need it again...

I would post a video of what goes on but its just.. well yea..
Please any idea?
I think this may be because of a problem with the F drive which i THINK is the DVD drive
Well, I tried re formatting the HDD a bunch of times..
But i dont know if i wasnt supposed to format C, E, and F....

Why dont you try AID 2.11 Final. You may download from here and will guide you in the process. Sorry cant help with your current prob. but I am sure if you try to re-format/re-install with AID everything will work fine.... _________________ Xbox V1.0

I tried it..and these guys saved my butt one two occassions with softmodding..
keep reading and they'll get you on the right path..I would try, but believe me..I'd only confuse you more..

When you reformatted, did you reload a dash? It sound to me like its looking for a dash or something, I never heard about the video loop you are talking about. What was on you hdd after you ran the CD you made? Do you still have your stock xbox drive and does that work? Like masta Blasta said, AID would have done a nice job for preping your hdd. Maybe someone else here has used xbhdm and can help you further. _________________

Um, we... I dont know if its because where it says something like..
12v ---- _._a
6v ---- _._a
My new HD needs .75 a... and the original only takes .35 or .3... I dont have it in front of me...
I let the Download of the torrent go for 2 days and it only got to 2.5%..

U'm if someone has a offsite mirror that would be good..
But... I'm not chipped only softmodded..
What the CD does from my understanding take the backup i put in the C folder and adds it to the HD under the C:\ Partition... Same for the E:\....
These backups were full altough i removed the Halo2 i had burned to my HDD and a few extra maps and a few sound tracks (which they all put it over 700 MB (Max capasity of CD-R)) There was EEProm...
Like i said before... The original 8gb HD still works... and has EvoX Installed..

I have another HDD that is a bit older (off a 1999 computer) and I'll try putting it on that one and setting the jumper...

Well, I'm gonna go, burn another boot Xbox HD maker CD and try to install tha back up again.

If you are looking for a better way to download via torrent then I would suggest to try using azureus rather than what you are using right now. Are you using bittorrent as your downloader? If you are then that is my guess why it took so long. Azureus only took me a few hours to dl via torrent so hopefully that helps you out. Good luck. _________________ Xbox V1.6

The packages that come in AID are very stable. You can extract SID from it and use that for the softmod. You'll find SID in the tools directory. You should try and do the rebuild again, to start out fresh. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

My only other concern... is i have NO mod chip and it says it only works with chipped boxes... well, I'll see what i can do..

In AID, there is a PDF file that explains how to install a new HD with a softmod. If u still need it, i can find a way to send it to you and it will be fast.

Ok,
Thanks everyone...
I had to restart almost 5 times but i think i finally got it..
I installed with the Softmod installer through splinter cell.
Installed the softmod and dash through there..
Rebooted into the CD i made of AID and installed the SK + MS dash..
Then installed the hacked dash through the Softmod section...
THANKS for ALL the support!!!
My 80 GB HD is working fine!
