Here's my situation.

i have an xbox v1.4. i successfully installed an Xecuter 3CE. i followed precise directions and i'm 95% sure that i'm not having a hardware issue. I'm having a problem with the bios.

i made a DVD-R with a "BIOS.BIN" file with a DUMMY.BIN right along side it. my external switch is on on off off off. the protection switch on the mod card itself is disabled.

i know little to nothing about flashing bios and i'm really stuck. i've got a bios file that i found...not sure if it's what i'm looking for really. i made the disc with Nero and followed directions, so i'm sure that's fine.

i would really appreciate some help and would love a detailed walkthrough. i need someone to hold my hand, lol. i'd be happy to provide any information necessary. please help.

Whats the name of the bios? That might be important. If your already networked, I suggest the http method. If not, start xbox in x3 backup mode. (power+eject). If it powers on and you don't see anything, press eject. If you get a blue screen with Flashbios 3.03, then the hard part is over. Put the cd with the bios in the xbox, select "load bios from disk". If it cant find a disk, try another brand of media(cdrw, dvdr etc) If the disk loads, it should flash your bios. Wait till both the yellow and green bars fill up, then the xbox should power down. Start it up with a quick tap on the power and you should see configLive.

Again, an exact bios name will greatly help your cause.

the bios name is evox m8 plus. i've tried http, but nothing comes up in my IE browser. i'm going to try flashfxp and see if that works.

like you said, it may be the media. i'll try something else and see if that works.

i got the bios from a "Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v2.11.Final.Xbox-Hq" file that i downloaded.

more then likely you will have to setup all the X3 network settings before you could ftp or http the bios.. Seriously if you dont know much about networking i would just try buring the bios.bin file to a few different CDRW's or better a DVD-R..

Once you get it flashed you wont need to flash it again..

Or you could continue to try to flash via http..

Your choice. Just trying to offer my opinion.

BTW.. IMPWIZ.. I thought the X3 would only run a X3 bios.. Not the M8.. I dont have a X3 but thats what i thought.. Can you clarify?? You state the M8 works fine so it must..

you cant set x3 network settings with flashbios, it just uses dhcp to assign you an address. if the network is plugged properly it should come up with an ip that you can enter in the browser address bar.

while i have heard that an x2 or evox bios will work on an x3 chip, its a pointless waste. kinda like buying a corvette and dropping in a 4 cylinder engine from a tempo...

get the newest x3 bios and try a dvd-r from another brand. make sure you're following the burning instructions here

I'm having a similar problem. I'm using a a 1.6b with a X3 ce chip that I sent to Xtreme Mods to install so I'm sure its no faulty installation. The problem I'm having is that after retrieving the X3_3294 bios from xbins through flashfxp I'm not sure if I'm downloading correctly becasue everytime I try to unpack it by hitting the extract button it says two errors. The first is unexpected end to archive which only comes up somtimes but the other one is file corrupt. I'm using winrar 3.51 trial version. I have tried re downloading several times with joy. I know its me because I'v been Xecuter forums and people there have been unpacking the bios with no problem even after I started posting the problem there. I'v tried winrar help menu but most of that stuff is greek to me. I'm thinking maybe my settings somewhere are off. Anyone else here may know what I'm doing wrong?

Hey Forahobby, just to clairify, X3 chips can use m8 bios'. On the other hand, X3 bios' can only be used with X3 chips. That is my understanding. (correct me if i'm wrong ne1)

But like Aweirdguy said:

X3 bios has many more tweaks and goodies. Current bios version can be found on the team xecueter website. Not the actual file, of course.

Let us know what it's doing when you try to "enable Network Flashing" from flashbios. does an ip address pop up? or does it say "DHCP FAILED"? Details will help us troubleshoot your network problem.

slobkilla, to you, I strongly suggest a vip membership. Thats where I found mine that works... If you moved the file from xbins to your comp., than you d\l'ed it correctly. I can't say it is or isn't corrupt, b/c I haven't tried to d/l it.

Thanks for clarifying that guys.. I wasnt sure.. and i want to know 100%.
Now i do.. See you cant possibly know everything.. Actually im getting worse as i have slowed down modding and am doing more website admin now.. lol

So you can use M8 bios on X3 but why would you.. I see what your saying and i gathered that the x3 bioses would have to be better for the chip..

Okay, so it was the media after all. I just tried a CD-RW and it flashed the BIOS no problem at all. That went over well, but...

When I start up my XBOX it FRAGs and i get an error code #16. I think that's a dashboard code. How do I get to the screen where I upload the dashboard? Can I bypass this error screen?

Service Error 16:
Info: Other files related with the dashboard or dashboard settings (specific dashboard error).

Error 16 means your xbox cannot find the menu setting with which you can set the clock of the hdd. This happens to a lot of people that erase their hdd (original/upgraded) or MS dashboard files and after that they don't immediatly install the hdd but leave the xbox without power longer than 5 hours.
Solution: You may have corrupted dashboard files on your xbox hdd. Use the 'HQ Auto Installer Deluxe' to reinstall your dashboard.

You should be able to boot the AIDELUXE once you modchip is turned on and flashed.. You may have to burn a couple of different brands of dvd-r/cdrw before you find one that works in your xbox.

Then you can reinstall the M$ Dahsboard to the C:\ Drive and any other dashboard you like.
