Sitch': I've got two sunday's both w/ 49B's in them (the numbers following the 49B are different, but that shouldn't matter tho'...right?). I must have old habits from EVOX flash days cuz it seem I'm not able to hotswap.
The only way I've been successful at flashing is when I boot up on a certain bank and then load up SundayFLASH or Flashbios 3.xx and then flash THAT bank. If I hotswap and flash, SUNDAYFLASH doesn't recognize the manufacture ID (ff on all blocks), and FlashBIOS tells me 'Unknon flash! Halting'.
One thing I've noticed is that if the I remove the BIOS modchip (doesn't matter the make) and then put it back on, Avalaunch won't load up anything (synch issue?) it'll just hang. Could this be the issue w/ hotswapping and using the above apps? Is hotswapping not even possible w/ SundayFLASH and Flashbios?
I hooked up the IR Mod and it didn't like flashing over HTTP (well, something happened) and I lost both banks trying to flash 512k. I've got the one other 49B that I succesfully flashed, but can't use it to Flash my other one....

I've disabled The IR MOD and the PIC is removed for the above situation.

Any advice? Thanks,
scube

Wow, okay now...
well, I got desperate and said f#&@ it! I read some more of the manual and that gave me some ideas. After reading a bit I got the idea of not to remove the mod from the LPC and to just switch banks while still connected. That worked, and so then I got the great idea to try and swap flashroms while the mod was still connected to the LPC..that worked to (eventually after a few flash attempts in SundayFLASH). So, I guess I figured out a solution to that problem.
--
If I'm missing something, and there is a better way to do this, please let me know...that was stressful!! I kept thinking I was going to kill one or both of my chips...either that of mess up my LPC header...
--
Ahh well, it worked, and so I was then able to succesfully put on X2 5035 also. Cool..
In the manual under flashing it says "X3 bios 512k (set a-20 to Minus)", but then under that it says "Currently at X2 5035"...what's the deal? Would an X3 bios work here?

GGGgrrreeeeeaaat!
Got that well enough resolved...
Next problem:
Okay, now I've got a problem w/ the BT connection. For somereason, when connected to my IR mod, using the remote I can tray eject, and swap banks and power on/off but no BIOS will load. Once on though I can pull BT off the mod and then the bios boots up. With Tray eject and BT connected to the mod, while watching the voltage I can see a quick drop when tray eject works, but nothing happens to the voltage on BT (don't know how it turns on w/ out that voltage drop...). Maybe there is a quick drop and it's so fast for my analog meter to register it....dunno.

Maybe now that I wrote all this out I'll have another beer and figure it out also... Any suggestions?

Hmm, that beer must have helped. My BT problem seems to lie with the 512k chip that came w/ my Sunday chip. I swapped that chip out for an old 256k chip and it works fine. The 512k chip also works fine in a different board. Man oh man...
-
Is it a possible problem with the PIC, or maybe the CPLD chip? If I were to solder on the necessary add-ons for IR upgrade and put the PIC in another Sunday might it work then?

Makwe sure if you are using the 512k bios you take the flylead off of A-18 and just use the A-20 to minus jumper.

What version Xbox is these, since 1.6's are 5v standby and older machines are 3.3v it helps to know.

I was definetely using the 512k chips. I've got the jumper thing figured out also. My XBOX is v1.3
Was I correct about the hotswapping? Like I said, if I left the mod on the LPC bus and just carefully swapped the FLASHchip then I could flash it, but no joy anyother way.

Yes correct about hot swapping. Is the IR and everything working now and all is well?

Well,
I've still got problems using one of these 512k SST chips. It works no problem in another Sunday, but in my IR mod it acts unpredictably. It has Cromwell on one bank and a hack bios on the other. I can sometimes swap banks using the IR and get it to boot, but mostly it just FRAGs or I get no audio/video. If I swap out the SST and put in this 512k bios flash there is no problem. I can NOT say for sure that all my problems are resolved: I'd need another 512k chip w/ two BIOS flashs on it to test my bank select reliably. I don't know if it is the SST that may be in error, or if it is the IR mod.
-
I'm thinking of getting another PIC to plant into another Sunday to test things out. Then again, I may just go w/ another 512k SST. I don't want to inquire about RMA's yet, as I can't say for sure that the SST is bad (or if this SST would even be covered by an RMA, I guess it did work until I tried flashing it -which wouldn't work properly at first, I had to 'hot' swap the SST). I would really like to get two BIOS images on here and make sure the bank swap is resolved, so I guess I'll risk flashing two banks over this 512k flash I've got working...dunno.

When I send em out I test the hell out of the IR mods you should use the flshrom that works best since 2 power planes will mess with a board this size. I'm doing about 10 IR mods and pogo installs a week and no relibility problems on the IR mods I've matched up. You don't want to mix flashroms since they are serialized to the CPLD.

Hmmm,
so then it's not recommended to get an IR-upgrade kit? I was thinking of putting an IR mod onto one of my other sunday's, but some were blanks and, obviously, not serialized to the CPLD. now this is something new to think about...
So we can't upgrade our Sunday, we've got to get them matched from Clevermod?
