Change the right stick's axises to X and Y instead of RX and RY in the XBCD setup utility and see if it works.I was having the same problem with Project64 (I use it legally, I have an N64 and I only download games I own) and doing this cleared it right up.

pretty sure i tried everything, from changing the axi' to X, Y, to changing them to buttons, but GTA just wouldn't recognize. so for future reference, to myself and others Razz, heres how i rigged it to work. there may be much easier ways, but this is how i did it. i ended up getting JoyToKey to and mapping the controller buttons to the keyboard.

i want the right joystick to turn CJ's head. the keys in the game options are numberpads 8,6,2,4: up,right, down, and left respectively. open up XBCD Setup make the DPAD's up,right, down, left to Buttons 13-16, change the rightjoysticks ^>V< to buttons of 17-20. now click the little "Windows" tab. set the # of buttons to 20. now click the little '"Rumble" tab. set the game controller on your lap and stick those slider bars to High. nice eh? turn that back off. save this profile. save it something smart like "GTA" or even "GTASA" Time for more fun, open JoyToKey, this thing took me like 20 minutes to find a download for. i bet you can do the same (or i'll upload it for the VIP's Razz) alrighty. in JoyToKey, create a new Configuration, again using a clever naming scheme, we get something like "funkyroxxoredmysoxxors" on the right should be a large box with numbered buttons! grasp that scroll bar firmly and slide it down to buttons 17-20!! DBL click button 17, followed immediatly by your fleshy appendages pushing of numberpad 8, where when we started this crazy tales telling, we learned was the default key for looking up in GTA: SA. hit ok and you can now turn CJ's head up, actually his head turns down, lol you guys fell for it. doesn't that suck!!! so start SA but on the control configuration for using a JoyPad IN SA swap the buttons for looking up and down. and while your here you'll need to config ALOT of buttons like the DPAD to its correspnding 13-16 controller buttons. of +/- responses and gang commands. Easy no? Cool
