Found these on ebay uk. thought they would look prety cool as underlight on xbox front panel, so i orderd 3, I'l post pics back when iv got it fitted but here the url incase anyone else wants one.
They are Blue Cold Cathode tubes, 12" long and 1" diameter and an electric lightning type effect flows down the tube. it will even react to touch!
I think i see an adaptation of an xtender case coming (move buttons and cut a hole in the front for the tube too fit in? one for MG perhaps?)

finally got it delivered this morning and couldnt wait to get it fitted. Its so hypnotic, i could just stare at it for hours and negate the need for an xbox at all. Nah il just keep it as a distraction for wen my m8s come round to play halo2. maybe i might win a game or two now.
Any way here are the pics, sorry about the size, i didnt want to make em too small cos you cant see the effect very well.
My other idea was to incoprorate it into the case itself above the dvd, but that is going to require some dremel work, so it may be some time b4 i attempt that.
Let us know what you think everyone.

its actualy guite an amateur job at the moment, cos i couldnt be bothered messin with the case too much, it only took me about 10 - 15 mins.
You cant see it unles you look at the back of the box, which you cant usually see cos my box is on a shelf in the built in wardrobe above my pc, with the TV to the right on the other side of the wood so you cant see vary many wires.
I have a 12 v fan mod, with most of the metal grille cut away around the fan so i just slipped the molex connector through the hole and tied the wires off, the on off switch for the light hangs off the back but again you cant notice it, the only thing you might notice is that the top of the case doesnt quite sit right ar the back, but im working through that.
The kit comes with three screws and some double sided sticky pads, either of which can be used to fix the light anywhere, so i used the pads to fix it to the underside of the X3CP because it is deeper than the stock front to the inch wide profile doesnt look so out of place, however i did try it on a stock black one first and it does look ok, so long as you put an underlight or some other form of support on the back to make it level again. I'v got a 12" x 1cm UV tube that i was goin to use for this purpose but i think it looks ok as it is with the light overhanging the shelf.
Next up i think im gona need some blue 4" tubes for the inside to make the whole box glow blue from within.
Oh incidentily, it looks amasing with the Photon skin for Unleash X. The combination of lightning inside and out really sets it off

I have one of these ligh tubes also. Not even being used. I will try and make an underglow, and try and fit it in the plain xbox case. I will post my results when i eventually try it.
the pattern looks cool though hey!
