Hey, so this is the situation.
I have a softmoded 1.6 xbox with an upgraded 160GB maxtor HDD. It is running avalaunch .493.
The problem is that the bios is only reading up to 137GB. I heard that you could use xbpartition to overcome this, but I get this error message when I run XBpartition.
"LBA48 info not found, custom BIOS will not work with this BIOS! ... need to isntall bios 2"
or something like that. Keep in mind, all I want to do is make the bios able to read the full HDD.
How would I go about doing this? Can I install evox or something with it's bios? And if I do so, will I need to configure my upgraded HDD again? Cause I don't have my old drive anymore. I don't know where it is at all..

it depends on what bios you are using...
if you have the x2 4981 or 4983 bios:
.06 = all hdd space over 137gb goes to F no G
.67 = all hdd space over 137gb goes to G
if you have the evox m8 or m8plus bios you can edit them using xbtool or evtool. edit the lba48 mode to dertermine where hdd space over 137gb goes.
*remember that if you change the lba48 mode and your hdd has already been formatted you will need to reformat your hdd or drive before the changes will take place.*
** using aid v2.11 final will allow you to format a drive letter (ex: E:, F:, or G so you shouldnt have to redo everything.** _________________ [RIP Radio]

Thanks for the reply, but I am kinda lost now. I am completely new to xbox moding.
I got xbtools but no idea how to use it. I download bios.bin from the xbox(is that the right file?) but it gives this error:
Extracting 2BL image...
Extracting compressed KERNEL image... Invalid config params for kernel extract!
So I don't even know if it's the right file.
And when I do find the right file, and I edit it, all I do is upload it back to the same folder and reformat my f drive?

hi haydee,
I think rip1982 is confused..
You are running a SOFTMOD not a MODCHIP..
If you had a modchip install you couuld just edit the modchips bios like rip1982 mentions.. But since you have a SOFTMOD im not sure whether you can do the same thing.
You probably can but it will be a lengthy process no doubt..
anyway, thought id add to the topic to save you some time..
rip1982 if im wrong and i could be please feel free to rip into me lol

Keep your XBOX just like it is. Make sure you enable the G drive in dashboard then boot the AID2 disc and format the G drive. Voila, your missing HDD space is found again. _________________ XBOX V 1.0 (softmod)
