Any one performed the controller power switch mod as outlined in the XBOX Repair Manual? Everytheing went as directed until it came to modding the controller. I opened it up and obviously because I have a newer style controller and it is very different than the one outlined in the manual. I proceeded as directed anyways soldering the wires as outlined in the manual but I have nothing when the connection is made. Should I get constant voltage to the yellow wire I tapped into in the controller, and how much 5V? Will this mod only work on the older controllers or is there a different spot to connect to in the newer controller? Any advise would be very much appreciated as I have spent about 4 hours F-ing around with it.

Can't say too much, cept I think the yellow wire is a 12v supply. _________________

I'm not 100% sure of voltages, but I connected the yellow wire in the 1st controller port to power switch inside xbox, disconnected the yellow from the circuit board in the controller, and put a momentary switch between the yellow wire and Ground(black) in the controller.
The reason for using the yellow wire is because it is not normally used, e.g. only for light guns etc.
My power switch worked fine, until my controller eventually died. _________________

By the way, I also used a small type controller. It was hard to fit the switch, but I managed to squeeze it in above the jewel. _________________

you must mod both controler and controler port of xbox to switch.
controler adds a switch using yellow and black(ground) cables, switch is not good idea of the on and off, but to have it like a button.
the controler port of choice (port 1 for example) will have the 2 cables mentioned above, linked to the switch button of the power button panel, that way, you'll use your controler modded button, to power on and off, but careful, you don't want to press it by accident. lol _________________ Xbox v1.1

no i did a mod with a wireless doorbell lol using it to turn it on and off lol
Yeah, I was gonna do the same after I submitted a tutorial on it, but I can't find the right doorbell anywhere. They all have multi-tone e.g. Westminster, Ding-Dong etc. but none with the single 'dong' that it specifies
Hmmm, I could just get an X3IR, but its not a priority, lol _________________

Do a search at torrentspy and look for the XBOX Repair Guide.
