Hey everyone i have a new problem... i left my xbox unplugged for too long now when i turn it on i get error 16, and my original hard drive still has evox on it, and my 80 gig isnt locked so i am stuck... i really really really need help to bring my xbox back to life! i have tried nearly everything! is it possible for me to swap the SST chip in my cheapmod with one that has an updated bios and the msdash clock skip setting so i dont get this error again? i miss my xbox i am having withdrawels after only a few hours...

I did the same thing last month but I got error 14.
I made a evolution x boot disk and changed the clock setting in the ini file to this
JumpToMsDash = No
JumpIfNoLink = No
Use24 = No
SNTP_Server = 216.244.192.3
SwapDate = Yes
The bios thing might work too.

I was thinking about it and rather then swapping the flash rom chip, you could swap the HDD with the original to set the clock.

thanks, but i cant get a cd to boot it just goes straight to the error, and my original hard drive is the same, i somehow need to unlock it change the dashboard back then lock it again for use... i think it can be done with UnlockX

At the error with the cd still in the drive power off then back on. You should be able to boot from a disc yet.

nope wont do it with error 16, it looks for the time first so it always comes up with an error! it sucks... my only hope is UnlockX and a new SST chip...

If you used config magic to create backup files, you could use another modded xbox to ftp your HDD password out of C:\Backup, or If another modded xbox isn't available. Find and downlaod xboxhddump to reteive the file. Then use ATAPWD (from a boot disk preferably on a pc running DOS 5.0) to lock the drive using the password you retrieved.
I hope you have the backup, cuase I'm out of ideas.

I just found out Team-Assmbly's LiveInfo will display a drives password.
I'll check to see if comes up with the correct password and post the results.

Sorry, no good news.
It will display the correct password only IF you have your xbox eeprom, so it's not going to help unless you can retrieve it.

I had my eeprom backed up for the original hard drive i unlocked it, changed msxboxdash back to xboxdash and it was working in my friends box which i used but when i locked it in the pc again and put it in my xbox it comes up with error 16 again! and if i unlock it it comes up with error 5... me thinks its time to smash xbox with sledgehammer! or just buy a new one or sumthin... crapperty crap! my only hope is the flash rom chip now... anyone got one they can flash with the bypass msdash clock setting? please help me!

well well well, guess what i just found out... on my cheapmod the wire going to the D0 had come unsoldered and wouldnt boot anything up until i rebooted the machine with my original locked HDD that i thought i had screwed up but once i booted the machine and touched the D0 wire it came back to life, Bu now i have another problem, my big 80gig HDD says its locked and it wont unlock with unlockX, i think it happened in Config Magic in a friends box.... so i assume it would be locked to his box, so i should just load it up in there and unlock with config magic again? Also i tried using atapwd with TEAMASSEMBLY as master password but that didnt work... also i was wondering if u knew what the unique HDD key is in config magic? cheers

Thats great news! You got your xbox back!
The easy way to unluck your drive would be to put it back in your friend's xbox and use config magic.
The HDD Key and the attached HDD’s serial # are used to calculate a password on the fly, so each time you swap drives in your xbox the password changes.
