My friend bought a 60 gig to put in his xbox.
He has a softmod using 007.
I have a chiped box.

Can I use my Chiped box and the newest AID/SID to prep this drive without having to do all the PC Mumbo Jumbo (Then just ftp his save games and such over afterwards)

Will the EEPROM and DH Key prevent this. Just seems way faster if this is an option. I added a new 160 gig to my box using AID and it was a piece of cake.

Tutorial looks great!
After preparing the new large drive, do I need to softmod it still, and do I do that while in the Chiped box or back in the stock box?
Thanx.

Ok, so, I worked on his xbox for 5 hours last night.
Thought it would take 1 hour tops.

4. Run Xbox-Hq Auto Installer Deluxe Boot Disk and make the big HD ready. (don't forget to install config magic on this hd)

"Making the hard drive was no prob, if by Ready you mean format it and enable the f: drive.
(Does not say weather I need to Softmod it at this point or install any dashes)

5. Open the Config magic folder and delete the contense in the data folder and transfer your backup of the C and E drive to the data folder.

What the hell am I soposed to gain by puting my C and E folders inside of Config Magis\Data ??? (Turns out NOTHING!)

So I extracted my c: and e: onto the new drives C: and E:
Now I can boot to Evox, and run Config Magic.
I then load the eprom, flash the xbox with it, and lock the hard drive.
(The hard drive did NOT like being if the original xbox at this point, wanted to update xbox live and such....But I got if all working.

Reconect my hard drive in my box. MY xbox is telling me if has hard drive or dvd problems.

Optional if you play on live with your chipped xbox:
10. run config magic again on the chipped box and update eeprom. (this time with the eeprom backup from chipped xbox)
this will restore your chipped xbox eeprom back to original.

CAN'T cause I cant boot. And if I boot from AID, and run Config magic....MY EPROM is not on the cd, and it does not let you browse for it so im screwed.
So I hook up friend drive, config magic, load eprom, Wrie eprom to XBOX
"Unlock Harddrive first" well, if I do that he is screwed. So I unlock the drive, load MY eprom, write it to my xbox. My xbox is now happy.
AND FRIENDS IS PISSED.

How in the hell am I soposed to get both xboxs eprom state back to normal? Why cant I flash my eprom without Unlocking the drive?

My xbox is running. Friends is running w/ stock drive again. Large drive WOULD run if I could lock it with his eprom.........Which I cant do by folowing this tutorial.

Help

since your xbox is chipped it is happy to run unlocked hdd`s, before you removed your hdd you should have made a back-up of your eeprom and unlocked it,
also the backup of your friends eeprom should have been stored on your xbox, transferre it with a memory card (easyer and quicker than ftp) and make sure you have his c, and e drives stored on your pc.

once running your frinds eeprom in your box it should be a simple case of
putting his new hdd in your chipped box and copying the already softmoded data from your pc

your friends stock hdd should remain locked! don`t unlock it or you could end up having to do the hotswap trick.

you only really need to have the eeprom in the data folder, and it has to be called eeprom.bin or .cfg (whatever your using)

If you never done this before then don`t rush into it otherwise you will end up in trouble and cost yourself more time.

You did check that your xbox`s have compatable eeprom`s?
e.g: If your chipped box is a 1.0 then for god`s sake don`t put a 1.6 eeprom on it.

been there done that, binned some of the evidence. Lol

don't start cracking down my tutorial ,

this tutorial works and has been used by many people on this forum.

it is also included in AID2 manual.

follow the steps from step one , i say in the tutorial to backup eeproms

make sure your chipped xbox eeprom is updated to the retail xbox eeprom. then you can lock it

The first thing I did was backup the eproms using evox on BOTH systems.
I then backed up firends C and E drives to PC.
The....For the heck of it, I backed up MY C and E drives too.

His stock drive is still stock. Did not do anything to it.
His xbox is brand new, so 1.6 I believe.
Mine is a 1.2 I believe.

You say I only have to reflash my xbox if I play xbox live.....I don't.
But my Xbox would not boot running his Eprom......Compatibility issue mabey? But how do I flash my eprom back, without having to unlock his hard drive? Because when I load my eprom and try to Write to Xbox... It tells me to unlock the drive first. Defeating the prior work.

I was actulay thinking about puting in the large drive again, locking it with friends eprom. Then puting in friends stock drive, and using that to let me put my eprom back on chipped box......Not good idea?

Sorry if I was bitching....Just seemed the tutorial had bad info in it.
Did you really mean to say to put the backed up C and E drives into the Config Magic\Data folder? Cause thats what it says to do.

Ok. Issue resolved.
I just got back from friends house and our xboxes work fine.

I put his 60 gig back in my chipped box. Put his eprom in the configmagic\data folder. I loaded the eprom, wrote to my xbox, loaded from my xbox, and locked his 60 gig drive.

Then I put his stock drive in my xbox, unlocked it, put MY eprom in the configmagic\data folder. I loaded MY eprom, wrote it to my xbox, loaded from my xbox, and loocked his stock drive. Now I basicly have a spare 4 gig softmod drive if I should ever need one.
