I started a new case mod because my old one looked sloppy and unprofessional (pic 1 below).
The new one is coming along amazingly. The XLCD fits in the control panel like a glove. Either I'm better at this stuff than I thought, I have incredible luck, or God just has a place in his heart for modders, because I wouldn't imagine that this would be so easy for it being my first time, especially considering I've been drunk for 75% of the work.
I'll be sure to keep this thread updated with any progress I make, and if any of you are looking to do something similiar, feel free to ask me any questions you might have. The effort and small amount of cash is really worth the result, if you ask me.

good work.. I only wish i had the time to do that myself.
Ive always wanted a LCD.. You dont want to do 2 of those cases do you.. hehe (hint hint).. lol
Thanks for sharing.. Cant wait to see the final product..
Dont forget if you have time to jot down what you are doing so you can share your tutorial with others..
The front panel went fine. Got it all smoothed out and painted, and besides for a few imperfections where I could have filled and sanded better, it looked pretty bangin'.
When it came to getting the thing back together, though, everything went to shit.
Apparently the XLCD doesn't fit too nicely below the DVD tray. I tried, er... coaxing it a bit and ended up putting too much pressure against it and started pushing it out of the front panel... Gonna have to refill, sand, and paint that whole half again... I'm just hoping I didn't damage anything in the LCD.
Even still, I noticed that the way the DVD drive sits in there doesn't allow the LCD (at least, not how I have it mounted) to fit also. So I'll have to take off some of the DVD tray (including a bit of the metal around the DVD-ROM itself) and probably some of the lower case heat shield and some of the case itself as well.
The harddrive also didn't fit due to moving the controller ports over to the right side. So I had to cut away the tray (front and back) and move the harddrive back in the tray, which isn't nearly as simple as I thought it would be.
Anyway, I still have a ton of work ahead of me, and I'm extremely frustrated with it. I understand now why the truly ambitious case mods are left to the pros... In fact, I'll be shocked as all hell if this thing even works by the time I'm done messing with it.
In summation, there will definitely not be a tutorial on this coming out from me, because I'm the last person you want to be taking case modding advice from...

listen dude, it happens to the best of us. you always have to start somewhere, and believe me, the tricks and techniques that you learn in this stage will prove to be immesureably (is that even a word?!) important in the future. the cracked bondo is something that i think every who has ever worked with it learns the hard way. just take your time and enjoy what you've done so far. _________________ wetbox rusty pc
Thanks, man. I really do appreciate the supportive words, especially coming from you. The mod I'm doing is, quite obviously, I think, inspired by your blue and grey machine. If anyone knows about casemods, it's you. Well, and that rust mod guy, but...
Either way, I'll keep at it, and let you know what the outcome is.
Thanks again for the moral support.

Is that lcd easy to install? When I got my xbox back I found out they installed a X3 and I want to take fully advantage of it and this seems easy to install also it looks awsome. I was wondering, can you use this with a xbox skin?
