Having read on the Gentoox website that the
xbox can support over 120+ usb devices I decided to look into it.

Since the xbox controller ports are effectivly
usb port`s it stands to reason that somewere in
the xbox controller/joypad is a usb hub.

This must split the usb three ways -
2 memory card slots and the joypad itself.

It`s true I have intergrated a
joypad into my pc cased xbox and used the
two mem card slots to provide myself
with two usb ports from the one joypad port.

I also read that the xbox can not
handle inline usb hub`s,

For the record, I have a four way hub plugged
into the xbox pad and all 5 ports work
fine.

while I was tinkering I added a switch to the
red/power wire on the controler port that my
usb`s connect through so I can turn
them all off.
Linux and halo won`t boot with usb devices
plugged in.

I hope this helps anyone who is looking to add
some usb support to thier xbox

I totaly recommend Making an old Mem
card or xbl modulator into a usb port. removable & usefull (having a joypad as an extention)

Just out of curiousity. Did you hook up over 120 devices?

No. LOL

After reading this I started wondering how you`d go about adding more usb port`s if it`s been said that you can`t plug 1 hub into another.
you`d have to have 4x 30 port hub`s.
to get 120.

Anyway I`m using two hub`s plugged into each other
right now, And that`s assuming that the xbox doesn`t use
a hub to provide the four port`s on the front of the xbox
to start with. (That would make three)

started to wonder what other devices can be plugged in.

I`ve only tried using mice, keyboard, usb memory cards + printers so far.

I`d love to know If the internet can be used via usb also.
(havn`t had the gut`s to try it yet.

Being able to plug the keyboard & the mouse straight into the memory card slot
on my joypad is a big bonus.

Well worth trashing a memory card or modulator if you have a spare one.

Like I have mentioned to you before. If you can look hard enough, there was a M$ usb adapter availbable if you paid for S+H when you bought Phantasy Star Online. You might be able to find one on ebay cheaper than a mem card.

There is that opiton out there as well.
