i recently tried to install an x3 ce chip using the solderless adapter on a version 1.4 xbox. when i turned it on the reset/eject chip started smoking. i thought maybe this was my fault do to a faulty installation Embarassed however i tried to install on my other xbox, same problem. Crying or Very sad is it possible that the reset/eject adapter i got with the x3 is the source of the problem?
one more question. is there anyway i can get a replacement eject/reset chip so i can at least power up an unmodded xbox? Embarassed Crying or Very sad

Man, it sounds like something is grounding out, for the X3, you don't require the power eject adapter pcb, unless you want to acccess the MS bios on a regular boot up.

Make sure you have no solder splashes on the PCB and also makes sure no metal is making contact, mainly with that RF case.
