I have used the previous versions of SID without any major issues...and tried SID3 for the first time today...went fine until the MS Dash patch...prob not 5690 on the box...anyways...no big deal...just used the ms-c file from the AID2.02 disc ftp'd it over and carried on...
The real problem? It will launch a burned DVD as normal and gameplay starts and everything runs fine for 5-10mins then it tends to give "Dirty Disc Errors" ...I can run the same disc in my hardmodded box and play for an hour and all is good...consistent fails on the softmodded box though...
I have to try a few more burned discs obviously...maybe older titles will run as normal...this was a quick burn of NBA Live 2005...
All factory discs work fine...so am sure the dvd drive itself is OK...
Is it possible this problem is due to BIOS changes in SID3?
Or...do I have to start actively patching xbe's for the softmodded systems?
I don't recall having to do anything special for the discs I made that are running on the SID1/2 boxes I have done for other peeps...will try and get ahold of one and test the same disc but don't think they be local any more...
For now I will re-rip the title with the newest dvd2xbox with my hardmodded system...ftp it to the pc and re-iso and re-burn it to see if it makes a difference...
The only other thing I can think of that is different aside from the new SID is the modded backup...I toasted it off from "E:\Backup\Mod" so that both normal and eject power on goes to evox...this was to kid proof it...tried extracting and ftp'n the info back into a Mod folder...eject power on still goes to evox (but I can use avalaunch and call the xbe directly to see the SID menus) and the problem still exists...didn't think the softmod actively used anything in the Backup folder though...but I could be wrong...
I will report back...in the mean time...any other suggestions?
Thanks in Advance.

I've gotten one DDR error with Forza Motorsport, which load times have been a problem on that game.
I can't tell much of a difference, but can't seem to figure out how to get it to boot to EvoX...Eh, I'll figure it out.
May go back to SID2 too.

When using AID 2 there are 2 choices of softmod install:
You can try both and see if either one does any better, but I've always used nkpatcher and never had a problem...

Re-rip and Re-Burn - No Change
Other Titles? Hit and Miss...couple older ones seem fine...couple newer ones seem fine...but a few have consistent DDEs as well... *sigh*
Gonna try goin back to SID2 I think...see what happens...
I suppose its always possible this dvd drive just doesn't like these particular DVD-R discs...

Do you patch the games XBE's before you burn?

Well...buggered it now...was playing with a few diff things...then decided to give up and go back to SID2...killed the hdd using AID202 format...then got a brainwave and instead of putting data back on the drive immediately I decided to run the BIOS info...which registered retail BIOS...guessing thats why all the DDE's...coulda swore under SID2 it showed as M8...anyways...after the check the only option was to restart the box...course the drive was already blanked....so it is now toast...
Any creative suggestions to recover?
I tried to hook the hdd from this one into my hard modded system...no go...error 6...haven't read up on it yet but will do so soon...
I tried taking another hdd, prepping it in the hard modded box with the contents of the old softmodded drive...no go...again will be reading up on softmod hdd changes in a min...guessin somethin to do with drive/system ids...
As it is I have ordered a solderless chip so I can do a rebuild in the buggered box then remove it and go back to norm...but that is 3 days away...
In the meantime I have an upset friend whos kids are driving her crazy without the xbox...

No...when I formatted it I did both C and E...wanted to start clean...so no save on the hdd and no way to copy from the mem card to the hdd as it just errors on boot...
In any event...I just recovered it...did the hot swap trick...took a couple attempts but made it work...rebuilt the hdd...installed SID2...just trying to put back the original saves etc...guess I ordered the extra modchip prematurely...ah well..never hurts to have a spare...

Crazy...after all that messing around the DDE issue was caused by media...sorry to all who had to listen to me whine...
Can't believe it...two nearly identical v1.0 consoles...same manuf location (mexico) and relatively close numbers...
One uses the $0.30 per disc media and loves it...
The other has to have $0.75 per disc branded media...
*shakes his head*
DDE issue resolved...

Heh, I'm gonna try different formats. Good idea, and I've set up my DVD burner to what I thinkshould be the DVD-ROM Booktype, which on xbox-scene it says should read better for the Samsung drives.
