I'm new to these forums, and I hope this is the right place to post this and really the whole modding thing. I used the 13 step softmadding guide by some guy with the gamertag aSquid. I used splinter cell to get the files onto my xbox and installed the unleash x dashboard. Again, I'm not very good with computers and all this stuff. Anyway, I modded the Halo 2 map warlock and after modding for about a week on XBL my live has ben banned. Every time I try to sign on it says "start troubleshooter" and comes up with the error message saying that because I have modified software or hardware, my xbox cannot connect to XBL. I've heard that there are ways to unlock the HD and replace some sort of system key. Can somebody please help me?My xbox, not my gamertag, has been banned from live. sorry mate, but i don't think there is a way to "unban" your xbox from XBL. i think you'll need to buy another xbox to be able to go on live again. Didn't anyone tell you that you can't go on XBL if you have your xbox softmodded? you have to remove the softmod b4 you can go on live otherwise you do get banned unfortunately

First off, don't mod maps, you will keep getting banned.
Then people like me chastize you for coming on live with hacked content. You pay for the security of that network, or did you not realize. Places like X Link Kai and XBConnect are for cheaters and modders alike. To play in the safety net outisde of M$'s realm. Its their for a big reason.
But since you are asking another question beside modding, I can still help.

Look into the "marriage theory" on these and other forums
This states your eeprom (Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory.) Contains data for your Motherboard Serial Number (S/N) and info as to your video regions (ntsc-a or j OR PAL) and your time zone settings and the like. Also contained is your HDD KEY..
The Key is a variable dependent on your Mobo S/N, HDD S/N, and some other info.
So means, you need to go to ebay or another site that sells eeprom images. they are .bin files
Make SURE THEY ARE VIRGINS! Never been on live
Then you will need to buy a new HDD, you have to pay even more money ,b/c you wanted to mod on live. Shame Shame.
You can get Stock HDD on ebay, but assholes usually sell locked paperweights. Try "TheModGod" , he is another admin/mod here and he sells them, but he is a distinguished business man.
Eerpom = $10 - $30 dollars
New HDD = $20 - $400
Modding Map = Hours of forum searches.
Realizing you can get banned for playing on live the hard way = Not Priceless.
Like I said, there are free tunneling softwares that can do all that without the risk of getting banned.
I pay for XLive to make sure there is no cheating man. And its great that you might only play in personal games, but one guys gets another guy.
Thats what put Halo 2 in its Crippled state right now. But its your decision man...you can see how I feel about it. Not you personally, just the rampant toll of cheaters and modders I see in the game. _________________ XBOX v1.6
