just pulled this from a long dead machine. unfortunately did not note where I pulled the wires from.
does anyone know where I can find install instructions for this chip, with pics and everything. Googled like crazy, nada! Pleanty of stuff for newer chips, could probably figure it out from there, but don't really care to. It would be easier to just buy a newer chip with current instructions, but the idea here is to get away with something that's essentially free.
Any help would be appreciated and I thank you in advance.

another thing. I'm also not certain all the wires survived the pull (literally!) there are 6 thin wires and 1 heavy wire attached. a close look at the chip seems to suggest that there may have been a wire soldered to a contact with DO(?) next to it!
I've had a look at some of the other install pics for newer chips and they also don't show which wire from the chip goes to which contact on the mobo.
btw, thanx for the responses so far.

is there a way to post a pic on the forum? to answer mickc's question, it appears to be the same, but a pic would show what I would probably be able to adequately describe

well, I'll try to describe it anyway. It looks almost identical to the top 2 images at aladdinchip.com
the chip with the SST logo appears to be the same except the bottom line reads 0341062-A. The chip below it (if u read the SST right side up) is different from the ones in the picture, i.e. no "Lattice" or curvy "Aladdin" kinda wrapped around a plus symbol "+". Instead it has some very small writing these older eyes can't see. It does have a logo similar to L on the Lattice chip, except it has a single row of dots on the bottom and left side of the L. (The Lattice chip appears to have 3 rows)
Wires: Starting from the contact (we'll call this #1) just to the right of the D0, (and going clockwise) there are wires soldered to each contact, seven in total with last 1 (#8, immediately next to #1) having nothing attached. All are very thin wires except #4 (exactly opposite corner of #1) which has a heavy, maybe 10 stranded wire attached.
But like I said earlier, I don't have clue where #1 attaches to the Xbox board, or #'s 2-7, or whether or not I'm missing any wires.
Again, I'm truly grateful for the assistance, even tho it hasn't got me to where I wanna go..... yet. Very Happy

hi niin007,

We normally used to have aladdin from http://www.aladdinlive.com on our forums to help with this type of stuff but he is obviously busy.. Try contacting him on his ALADDIN SUPPORT MSN: aladdin@360chip.com

Hopefully he will give you the answers you need.. Also, If you do get some aladdin pics or tutorials please submit them to HQ so we can keep them for th future.

Aladdin is a good guy and normally always willing to help the members of HQ in his spare time.

Sorry i couldnt help you more personally but i havent installed a aladdin in ages and to tell you the truth i forget.. I dont have any images handy to help either otherwise i would attach here for you.

btw.. TO attach files just selec t 'reply post; image and then down the bottom of the page you can attach files.

Keep them small.
