Hi I'm trying to install an emulator but can't find any tutorials to help. So if anyone knows where i can find one or can help me out that would be great. I'm still a newbie at this sort of thing so the easier the better.

Here is how I installed MameX Emulator.
After I downloaded it to my PC I FTP'd the program to E:/Emulator/Mame
I then created a subcategory E:/Emulator/Mame/roms so I could FTP the roms from PC to xbox.
Then after I restarted my XBOX and EvoX dashboard opened I just selected "Self Installed Emulators". MameX showed up and I just select that now and all my roms show in the game list. Was very simple.
Now, my Surreal64 is burnt to the HD just like a game and shows up in my game list when Pxx HD Loader is up, or Avalaunch is running.
My NES emulator is just on a DVD+R Disk along with the roms. I just pop in that disk when I want to play that emulator. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Yeah most of them do come with read me files if you downloaded the sipped version. Just incase it didnt, there are tutorials, I'm not sure If we have one for the emu but, it should be pretty easy to find. I'll take a look around myself see if I can help find one for ya.

Hi Thanks for all your help guys. I've managed to put the mameox emu on. The only thing is it doesn't play any of the bigger games, I know this is down to the limited RAM of the xbox, but I've heard you can double this. Yeah, you can add RAM to the XBOX, but I haven't ran into any roms that I couldn't play. The xbox is a pretty powerful machine. What is happening when you try to load the game, and what game is it? You may want to try to get a different copy of the game and try it again. I have heard of some games not playing on the xbox too, but couldn't remember the reason. I know I just haven't ran into one yet.
I know some people think there is a problem when loading vector imaged games because they just get a black screen. Basically for that all you do is type the word "ok" by pressing left directional then right directional on the lower left DPad, not the analog stick. Sometimes, when games dont load for me I press the black button then select reload game and it just shows up.
If you still want to add RAM check the tutorials to see if one exists. If not let us know and I will make sure to get one to upload.

You will find with the NEWER roms on MAMEX they will not load due to the memory the xbox has.. It has 64mb of ram but remember after booting it would lose a small portion of that ram..
Bascially, If you want to play a particular game its best you mention what it is so we can let you know which emulator works best for it..
Btw.. there are so many different little emulators out there that play the same roms. Just some play faster then others..

im having trouble as well when i load the rom the MAMEoX emulator say that it failed due to memory so i guess that means i cant play mame games

Some games just will not play, but that doesn't mean you cant play others. I have about 6500 or so Mame roms on my machine, and small percentage just won't load. They either have missing files, or my machine just flat out runs out of memory.
From the information that I gathered, even a 128MB RAM upgrade will not let some of these roms play. I find this to be the case with a lot of the newer arcade games made after the year 2000.
MamedOX does have a way to tweak the virtual memory, this may assist in getting some borderline games to work, but I've never flubbed around with it. _________________ Xbox 1.4

but then again u got a bigger HD i have the standard one in my xbox
