ok this is mostly a reminder to myself of a moment of inspiration but if any one thinks they can do this feel free to run with it.

I was looking at pc cases and noticed that you can get a pc in a cube, often with hifi controls or something similar which function without the pc being on, or if it is on then they can control the pc sound output for example.

Also on my travels i have found modders using the micro ITX form factor to build pc's into the strangest of cases, including a BBC Micro Case, a George Forman Grill and a picture frame to name my favorite three.

This got me to wondering, what other cases can we transplant an xbox motherboard into, either in its complete state or dissected and rearanged with a plethora of wires?

Why not have a HiFi that can play xbox games rather than two separate units? could you build an xbox with no case at all, say into the fabric of a desk or those floor to ceiling wardrobes? Is it possible to mount an xbox mobo parallel to to a pc one (ie facing each other, sharing drive bays)

If anyone has any input to this id be most interested.
Also does anyone know is it possible to fit a slot loading drive to an xbox, and if you do will it read originals or just backups?

I started a project about three months ago that has since been put on the back burner while I catch up with orders...but, I am trying to transform my full sized replica Pittsburgh Steelers Football helmet into an Xbox.

There is going to be a tinted mask behind the face mask so you can't see the components inside, the dvd drive will eject out where the eyes would look out of. Controller ports will be on the left and right side of the helmet (ear hole areas)

Will wire up the fan at the back of the helmet and also use a 1.0 mobo to assist in pulling the heat off of the board. Will defintely go with some an extra fan somewhere though...just to make sure it ventilates properly.

If I can get this down to something that is more easily made I will be selling these bad boys on Ebay (stock of course). I will also be offering them chipped with larger HDs if needed.

Right now, am having a hard time getting the mobo to fit so that the dvd drive can eject where I want it. I am trying to avoid having to cut the helmet more than I have to.

I always thought making a TV with a built in Xbox would be cool. Just like the TV's that have built in DVD players.... I dont think that would be too hard at all.

ive been thinkin about doing the pc mod for a while, simply to save on the ammount of trailing wires across my room, cos atm i have my pc, surround sound, tv and xbox all linked to each other and so the cabling can be a nightmare but if i could get as many things as possible into one case it wouldnt look so bad. I was thinkin about a Lian Li Case because they are slightly wider which would allow for easier mounting. I was also thinking about modding the pc (500W ish) psu so it could power both mobo's at once (but obviously you would not need to have both on at the same time), but im not sure about the voltages. The other option is to try a small pc mobo in a maxi tower case, and mount the xbox mobo below it, although this would mean you have nearly 3 - 3.5 feet of tower :-S

I do like the idea of the helmet though, it would certainly be unique, although i have no idea of how you are going to fit it inside. The integrated tv sounds interesting, but it not one im going to attempt myself, my skittles are nowhere near that level. It would make an interesting product if M$ were to do it themselves though, like playstation did with the "PS one" when they made it tiny as a novelty to rejuvenate sales, MS could do this with the xbox or even better, integrate the 360 into a plasma TV!
