hmm i also see now that if i go to file manager and then startxboxdash.xbe it gives the same error 21 but if i start Dash_original.xbe in c the ms dash starts with out errors but i still cant go on live or anything like that

Ok,
Are you trying to patch the ms dash on the stock hd or a larger upgrade? I found that if I patch it on the stock hd then upgrade via xboxhdm v1.9 it all comes out good! I couldn't patch it on the larger hd? A little more info and maybe we can get you going.

Aloha from Hawaii,
My nephew had done a softmod w/mechassault and then tried to hide it from me by trying to delete it. Needless to say, I could no longer use xbox as encountered error 16. I did a hot swap and now I have error 21 and am not able to load/run anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you didnt put the correct dash in the C area when u made the iso for your hotswap. I would hotswap again with a stock ms dash inside of the C folder. I had the same error but when i swapped it i got good results and i got the error due to my idiotic self deleteing the xboxdash.xbe.

I learn fast pirrup. Learned the hotswap from you, and learned from my mistakes. Forward the info on, and all is well again in people's xbox. I got a free xbox from my friend cause he couldnt fix his screwed up mod. Fixed it in 10 minutes from the swap

i have the same problem.. error 21.. IF I PUT A NEWER GAME LIKE HALO 2 and try to click on xbox live.. it updates my dash auto???? or i didnt understand that well.. it gives me new dash that way i can have retail hdd?
i recently went to go softmod a friends xbox. i checked his dashboard to make sure it was updated and it was. i moved the linux files from my memory card to his xbox hdd. i went to c if the files transfered over correctly but both of the linux images looked funny and then the xbox froze. Now it freezes at the ms dash and i get an error 21. When i try to run a game i also get an error 21. Wat should i do??? _________________ Xbox ver:1.6
