Okay, I've got my Xbox networked, I can ftp to it, my main use for it is streaming videos from the network at the moment, but I can't work out how to use the internet.
XBMC says that the internet isn't connected, to check network settings, but I'm not sure what I need to enter. I'd like to be able to use the autoupdate features of Avalaunch, game save downloading etc.
Can anyone help me out?
Cheers.

what configuration do you have, presumably it is somwthing like the internet comes into pc and then a crossover links the pc to the xbox. if this is the case ensure that internet connection sharing is enabled on the host pc or that you have a proxy tunnel installed. once this is set up go to the xbox network settings in what ever prog you are trying to use (XBMC, avalaunch ect) and make sure you have valid DNS settings, these will either be provided by your ISP or I think you can also type the ip of the pc as this will translate the correct DNS info from the internet connection. Also ensure that the Gateway ip is set to that of the pc (ie 192.168.0.1 if you are using connection sharing, or the router address if you are using a direct link)
after that you should be good to go _________________ XBOX v1.4

I have ADSL coming into my PC via USB. I have a wireless router plugged into my PC, XBOX plugs straight into router. And I definitely have ICS, as wireless cards around the house work.
My gateway is defined as my PC, could I get DNS details from my router?
EDIT: Both my internet connection and router claim to acquire DNS addresses automatically, how can I find out what one to use? Ask my ISP?

your xbox needs to use the same DNS servers (settings) as your pc and router.. Have a look on your router and it will display its current IP ADDRESS and DNS SERVERS..
Write down the DNS servers.. As long as you can already ftp to your xbox then when you add the DNS servers you will have interent access on your xbox..

Nah like I said my router just told me it acquired it automatically.
Got it working though!
Start>Run>"cmd">"ipconfig /all"
DNS Servers are listed there.
Working a treat.
Thanks for the help
